I don't mind the occasional light makeup touches here and there (tasteful eye shadow, eyelash volumizer, lipstick), but if a girl isn't a looker au naturale, she's not worth having at all 
Like when you fancy a mint celebrity, and see them....without makeup and it's :barf: heaven...that is not cool, fooking superficial Hollywood.

The external has to be at least appealing before you can get to know the internal workings (and I don't mean her stomach, esophagus, etc. I mean her personality and character). 
That being said, attractive is in the eye of the beholder. There are women that every man would agree on being attractive, and then you get into situations where a woman might be attractive to one group but not so to another.
Personally, I like women who look good without make-up, and make-up can be a turn-off if you're Bozo the Clown with it. Of course, I'm petrified of clowns, so that might have something to do with it

Actually I only bother with it if i'm going out at night or if i've got a huge spot on my face. Much prefer being au-naturale (apart from my orange glow), but it would be unfair to make people face me like that.
I HAVE seen you first thing in the morning, and, apart from the welded shut eyes, yer still fairly pretty, which is a talent as a lot of chicks look like welders for 2 hours after waking.

I wear make-up for both aesthetic and health reasons. Aside from making myself look good, I have sensitive skin. I put on SPF 30 suncreen with mineral powder. Mineral make-up is so much better than the chemical fillers kind. Blech! Plus, mineral make-up is lighter and more natural-looking.

I've never held it against a woman on the looks she was born with. What I don't like are those that "give-up" and stop doing anything to look attractive. (shaving, hygeine, brushing hair, off-the-rack WalMart clothes come to mind).

I think make-up was originally invented to attract men by using blush on the cheeks and colour on the lips to mimic the look of a woman when she is sexually aroused - that's what I read somewhere once anyway.
I always wear a bit (for modern reasons, not the one stated above). I think you get used to seeing yourself a certain way and if I don't bother one day, I feel like something is missing.
My wife only wears lipstick, and I've dated other women that only wear lipstick. I do like lipstick (on women!) but if you can get away with not needing anything else, all the better. A bit more makeup is ok to accentuate some things, sometimes. 
I read that mimicing the after sex look was the original idea for make-up aswell once,forgot about that...
Whoever invented the made-up clown look, must have had one hell of a serious rodgering...

Mineral make-up hasn't really made it here yet, it is only on the organic/natural health products websites and a few posh beauticians. I agree with you - it is great stuff.

I definately agree, and please forgive my remark if it was a bit brash....a little too much scotch in me.
But do remember guys are a visual folks, whereas women are not as much.
As for guys and makeup? They throw on more attitude or "confidence". Women aren't into looks like guys are.
