We're Better Because We're English

Better than whom?
Judging from my point of view, the English were one of the most important nations of the last 700 years: they created the USA, brought civilisation to barbaric parts of the world, they were the cradle of parliamanenterism and democrasy, their lanugage became international - just that is already enough to mark that brave nation.

Ian this kind of thread doesn't warrant any sort of serious response.
The Irish were building buildings when the egyptians were scrabbling in sand, and the English were still daubing shite on cave walls. Navan Fort, the oldest human structure on Earth.
What's so great about being a bunch of Stella poisoned wannabe yanks anyway :D

BTW, your 10th doctor Who, I read in the Russian Wikipedia, was named after Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys. I have yet to see that show.
I read he nicked it from Tennants Lager.
He's only a pretend engerlander too, a proper manky Scots git :D

PaH!..
Doc... Navan Fort only dates from about 100BC.. Same age as many similar ones in UK, some of which are earlier.
Where did ya get that info from?
The Sphinx is alleged to be 6000BC. I imagine the Egyptians were bathing in milk and domesticating cats a long time before the Irish and English were shitting in a hole.

An ENGLISH program was the source, claiming, if not the fort, then other structures at Navan as being pre-5000BC, for sure, unlike the sphynx for which no one seems to be able to come up with an accurate date. Anyway, twas just making the point that the English are not better than every other nation. Einstein wasn't English, not Pasteur nor Von Braun.
Of course, the Irish ( even those of us of Scots origin) have a real handicap with posting multiply on internet fora.

I concur. Besides, the English as any sole nation are not a race.

French trains=TGV=186 mph and 100% safety record
English trains=18.6mph and a 50% chance of survival.

I've seen programs recently where some experts think the Sphinx may be as young as 3,000 BC. So your Navan would beat that. Of course some still say 6,000 BC. Bottom line: Who the hell knows? I do think we have a mound of dirt several thousand years old here in America. :D
Also, didn't the Irish monks keep literacy alive in Western Europe during the dark ages? Erin go bragh!!![]()

Ah yes, the 'Irish' Daily Star - they use that tagline because they are an English paper - BUT they have got irish journalists & most of the content in the Irish edition is produced here. They try to differentiate themselves from the daily mail / Sun etc, who just print the UK edition here & try to pretend that its an irish paper.
But, lets put it another way - if you are truly Irish, then you never NEED to brag about it
