After a slow start, it seems that 2006 is shaping up to be quite a good year for new bands emerging.

I think Liam Frost and the Slowdown family are excellent. Seen them 3 times in the last few weeks, they were ace in an empty tent at Electric Picnic. Most of the album is a direct Kloot rip off, especially Paper Boats, but thats not a bad thing. The latest single, The City Is At a Standstill is awesome.

The Young Knives are also particularly awesome. There album is great and are a storming live band.

The discovery of the year, HAS to be Kristeen Young. An incredible live performer, and Kill The Father is one of the best songs of the year. And i'm not just saying this because I saw her 10 times on the Morrissey tour. If she was crap i would have stayed in the pub.

10 times? Bloody hell. Just realised that. Thats more times than everyone apart from Morrissey and Kloot. Shit.

Special mentions to Metric, Captain, The Pipettes, Brakes, Fields, Duels and Field Music.

Anything else?

I saw Captain live in March.Liked the show but don't know what they are like on record other than what i've heard (Glorious Town ,which is alright except it's a bit eighties sounding and the way he goes "glor oh oh oh oh oh orious town ,it's a Glor oh oh oh oh rious town" in the chorus is just silly:nonono: )

Who needs new music?

I've finished with the NewOrder albums, so I move along the shelf as far as NIN.

End of.

No point waisting precious bump'n'time in dank pubs with the shoe-gazers. Go for the tried & tested stuff.

I highly recommend the band Snowden's album "Anti - Anti". I just bought it two days ago but know that I will be listening to it through out the winter. You can listen to a few of their tracks at their site.

bad year for bands breaking up though  metric aren't really new Liam, they've been around donkeys.

emmy the great, iliketrains & santa dog have been rather good.

oh & broken social scene are now on indefinite hiatus. (hopefully means a new album from spin off band stars is in the offing)

heard some Fratellis songs recently-seem quite good. Also just got into a Sheffield band called Little Man Tate, made some crackin tunes so far:thumb: highly recomended

for anyone into dance music, theres a dutch guy called Mischa Daniels whos made some tremendous songs, and done some good remixes to boot:thumb:
