eh...nothing wrong with signing a 25 year old goalie to a 15 year contract...
there's LOADS of 40 year old netminders in the NHL...RIGHT???
I guess people in Long Island should riot against the owner...
This guy doesn't have a clue what he's doing, that's obvious.

no Woodsy, I believe he is quite single....
and btw the only 40-something goalie I know of is Ed Belfour (and his wonky back) right now-maybe Cujo

i Have tried to incite a riot or two this summer, but most Islanders fans get upset for about 5 minutes, then totally back wangs' moves. look on some islanders boards, they keep saying that we are a much better team defensivly, that diPietro had a great second half and that if carolina can win the cup, so can we:dead:
i lost my optimism with this team when they got those fishstick jerseys in '95

since then i have supported them but been very critical
and they only showed true heart in 2001 against the leafs and unfortunatly lost in 7 games, barley making the playoffs and getting killed by Ottawa and Tampa didnt make me very happy especially since the teams best acquisitions going into the playoffs those years were Alexander Karpotsev & Janne Niiniimaa![]()
Yes, the Isles are a mess - the laughingstock of the NHL, even. They definitely don't have the worst team, but the front office is absolutely ridiculous. I question the addition of Viktor Kozlov. Frankly, the last thing they need is yet ANOTHER underachieving Eastern European (not that I have anything against players from that region, but it's kind of a funny trend with the Isles). I think that Mike Dunham may be able to come in and be a solid backup for Rick, but we'll see if he's rusty. But I must say that I am a fan of the additions of Brendan Witt, Mike Sillinger and even Tom Poti - Witt and Poti can bring a bit more depth and veteran presence to their young, developing blueline and Sillinger can bring a bit of grit and leadership to the forward corps. I think the Isles did well this offseason, although not as well as many would have hoped. Obviously I am only referring to additions, though, and certainly not to contractual dealings (at least not the 15 year monstrosity) and front office changes and tomfoolery.

Don't forget Dominik Hasek.. 41 years old!
BTW guys, if you like hockey, a couple of "friends" started a new forum site for hockey, called Penalty Box (at http://www.forumice.com)...
You are almost sure to become moderator since there isn't much anything other than Habs fans right now, it's been up only recently.
