Reckon i need a new one.It's time to give it up

Anyone bought a new one lately and how much did you pay?

Mine was redecorated almost 2 years ago. I like to cook since I dit it . And yes, it is a kind of livin room. Cost? Who cares. Important is to enjoy it and to feel comfortable (actually I wish my kitchen was bigger, haha).

the only item of any importance in my kitchen is the microwave.

There yer go.Just took this pic.The yellow walls isn't my decorating ,its from the previous owners.Never repainted it since i moved in 5 years ago.Actually the kitchen doesn't look to bad in this photo but it's worse in reality.Can you spot my shed in the distance through the window?

the door out is quite important if you set the place on fire if you fall asleep whilst cooking

I haven't had to remodel a kitchen lately, but from what I understand, remodeling for a high-end kitchen, with all the special gadgets, can cost around up to $50,000 easily especially if you hire people to do it. If you don't need all the special gadgets, though, I know friends of mine who did a beautiful remodel of their huge kitchen for $8,000. That included new flooring, new paint, new lighting, new appliances, and a resurfacing of the cabintry. They did the work themselves. And their kitchen looks awesome!

Have to say that B & Q are dead reasonable for a good budget kitchen, best to get a seperate fitter (not theirs) to do it for you. From the look of your picture I think that the space under the window could be utilised by putting your sink there and that will create more storage as well. Just an idea, wasn't sure if you had thought of that. Not that I know that much though.

Ditto really. Although, your units don't look as if they need total replacement? Anyway, B &Q or Homebase do some good deals; get a guy to fit it separately as LJ says, otherwise the fitting can cost just as much as the kitchen itself. Take the dimensions to one of the shops, including the height etc of your windows/doors etc and let them work a plan out.......then give it to an independant guy who will have his own account with a merchant! Kitchen that size, all new, with new appliances, floor, lighting etc etc, no more than £2k.

PS - A microwave is the LEAST important thing in a kitchen

I love my little kitchen. It has a nice slate floor. the latest kitchen update was a new fridge. The cabinets still look first rate.

If you can do stuff like tiling yourself do it, otherwise it will be very excy.

Could you push the walls out a bit? Say, about 6 feet. Bit narrow aint it? Not much to see or look at if yer gonna invest in a newy.

Like SJ noted, what's on the other side of the wall on the right? Seems to be a good idea to knock out that wall to give the kitchen more space. Can you do your own work or are you paying to have it done...big difference. If you are doing it yourself, let me know, can giveyou a bunch of pointers.

Not sure if England has the same stuff, but I bought all my appliances that were store floor models...save a good grand or so.....believe it or not, I also bought our Fridge, range fan, and washer/dryer on eBay.....saved even more money.

I design kitchens for council houses. If you send me the dimensions I'll design it for nowt.

Thanks but i think i'll leave it for now.Don't feel like dishing out the money for one right now.It was just getting on my tits on Saturday and i thought fuck it i'll get a new one.Re pushing the walls out question , i could push em out a bout 3 feet yeah.Won't though.I'm not that obsessed with the size!

my whole kitchen is almost finished being renovated and turning into a large kitchen diner..actually i aint had a cooker for 4 months
