Had insomnia last night and ended up watching that stoopid game programme. The question they were asking for a £45,000 prize was this

(This is exactly how it was presented)

ADD THE NUMBERS

NINETEEN MINUS FIVE =

4 + 3 X 2 =

6 - 5 =

I was gonna try and ring up with an answer of 29 which you would at first work out as the answer right? Then someone did but they were told that number was incorrect. So i thought maybe there's a trick with ignoring the spelt numbers (NINETEEN AND FIVE).That turned out to be wrong also.

Not one caller got the right number.I fell asleep in the end.

Anyone care to work it out? it did my head in.What's the trick in the question?

fcukin rip off programme.Answer HAS to be 29 surely?

)ok i admit i did waste 75p on one attempt to get through.I was tired :\ohwell:

the answer is 25...quite simple

nobody got it?

ADD THE NUMBERS

NINETEEN MINUS FIVE = easy enough 14

4 + 3 X 2 = so that's 4 + 6 (did you do 7X2?) comes to 10

6 - 5 = 1

so 14+10+1 is 25

how you get that then?

I'm sure there were complaints about this type of 'game' show not that long ago, a whole group of boffins were given the question and not one of them got it right....When asked to explain the producer of the show or whoever said that they could not reveal the formula because then everyone would always get the answer right.

Tis a rotten swizz, I imagine there are as many answers to that as there are flaws in Liam's politics....:evil4:

yeah the 4+3X2 is what was throwing you off...

according to the rules of math, you do the multiplication before you do the addition...

Yeah i was doing 4+3 (7) then times that by 2 = 14.I'm sure someone phoned in with 25 though nad was told incorrect.I though there was some trick with NINETEEN MINUS FIVE being spelt out

Jeff's right, but I can't believe noone would've spotted that... Unless they just didn't want to pay out... Would normally be written with brackets to avoid such confusion... 4+(3x2)...

I guess they have someone you say your answer to before being put through to the studio presenter but they only put through people who have the wrong answer.Cnuts:angry:

Nobody got it in the 40 odd minutes i was watching.40 minutes eh? how sad is that?:\ohwell:

BODMAS, BIDMAS or PEMDAS depending on which country or time you are studying in.

Brackets Order Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction

pay attention at the back!

By Mathematical law The Mint should have put the 3 x 2 in brackets then

Sour grapes or should i have paid attention in School?

No need to add brackets because BODMAS takes care of it.

Yes, you should have paid attention.:nono:

Not true. Even when there are no brackets, you always multiply first, then add.

They do my 'ead in,these programs.Rang up QUIZMANIA several more times than I should. Presenter will be there jabbering away, saying no-one's rang for a while, keep calling."I have yer bastard, but you never put me through."

Now you try flicking channels about midnight, and they've got one of these shows on about five channels!

So, the presenter of The Mint is MINT, then Jack?

Used to love the pub quiz at the Eagle And Child in Oxford... Who Wants To Win Twenty Quid?... Used to be able to actually phone a friend as well - "Now, I've got Dave here, and he's already got a guaranteed win of 20p..." Class...

It's the ultimate chav telly isn't it? The Mint.

Haven't ITV just been given a bollocking because they've ended up making pretty hefty amounts of cash despite the fact not many people watch it? (Well, aside from Johnny :D)

The government's probably pissed off cos all the dole money it "doles" out is ending up being given (in)directly to ITV  thanks to The Mint.

Was watching it last night again (i'm off sick this week) .I was about to phone up with an answer and stupidly waste another 75 p when someone beat me to it and ,thankully, that answer turend out to be wrong.Saved me some money.Weird spooky thing about it was the guy who rang in shared the same name as me and lived in my town too.

All these quiz money prize telly things are being looked into for offering illegal prizes for some reason. seems to be the new reality tv though, nearly every channel after 1am is a fucking quiz show now. what happened to re-runsof Taxi and monkey and other old tv shows that used to send me to bed happy.
