There was a little German Fair in Aberdeen yesterday. One stall was selling hot mead so, despite it being lunchtime. I tried one. Lovely! It was quite strong too - I felt a bit pissed for an hour or so, then developed a nasty headache which lasted all afternoon.

A few of us went back in the evening and I had a few more hot meads, then a couple of strong German lagers.

Nipped in another bar on my way home, where I slipped on a wet step, landing painfully on my back. I feel sure I have cracked a rib - it hurts like mad when I move or even breathe.

So quite a result for the honey stuff. Does anyone know where I can get it in bottles?

I'd also be curious to know where I can get a steady supply of the stuff. A friend of mine actually made some for a party and I thought it was great stuff.

And yes it'll knock you flat... and is one of the worst hangover inducers... but it's gooood.

I stock up whenever I'm in Cornwall - there's a great little meadery in the village we stay in, but otherwise try this...

Given the effects of mead, 'couldn't organise a piss up in a meadery' would make an excellent phrase...

And don't forget that Vikings drank mead... :viking:
