Will that bloke who shouts over all the songs be there?
I. DON'T. LIKE. LOBSTER!
I really like the 'Cubes, but can't see myself sitting through a whole gig with that fool spoiling every song.
Never been a big fan of Bjork's singing.Don't mind the odd song but couldn't hack a whole gig or album
Mind you that song when she's on the back of the truck in the video is alright
When ex-members of a group get together for a one-off charidee concert, it's really just to gauge public interest.
If the reviews are any good, there'll be a world tour a few months after this.
Here's one of those bands I always meant totry but never got around to it. Bjork is great, but definately hit or miss on her songs. Are the sugarcubes about the same? Figured they would be a little more rudimentary than her solo stuff, so never got around to giving them a listen. What are your opinions?
The Sugarcubes did some excellent stuff. Their greatest hits is one of the best cds - always in my car changer. Not heard a bad song from them.
The one downside is the better the song, the more the male 'singer' Einar spoils it with his strange shouting style.
On Regina, one of their very best songs, Einar leaves the planet altogether, ranting wildly about lobsters.
Bjork’s singing is always beautiful and she seems to sing better when the shouting bloke is worse. This has always made me think that the guy was actually deliberately spoiling things in order to ruin it for everyone.
An alternative theory might be that Einar was there to distract attention from some of the lyrics Bjork sings. Never far from bonkers herself, but who's going to notice someone sweetly singing "blow into the chastity belt" when you have someone shrieking "Hex and bitch and, Deserves lobster and fame, Oh, Johnny, Teeth and gums, In my life, Moon and sun, In my life, Lobster and shrimp, In my life, I don't really like lobster ( like lobster )" over the top of it?

Not a big audience... Björk looked at me straight in the eyes many times (I felt like snow in the Sahara...)
Well, this is a fact that there is this man shouting all the time... but, when I am asked how I cannot be a huge fan of Björk's solo career, I reply that she does not sing anymore but shout like the other bloke.
Well i think it's splendid news. Known for a while (from Bjork boards) that she was getting back for something this year. After da Order, Bjork is my 2nd 'fave' of all time. After seeing her & Sugarcubes many times i would really like to catch this show. Saw Einar in London couple years back as well (interesting). The ironic thing is that the gig is on my soon to be wife's 40th B/Day. And we met through a mutual appreciation of New Order & Bjork. Bastard fucking school in the way again. Im not happy. Mind, im 90% sure it's a one off gig, as Bjork is busy learning to sail & record a new album with her beau.
Great news! 
Stick Around For Joy is a great album to stick on before a night out... Bjork is a genius...

I still have a scar on my arm after trying to stave off some cnut with studded boots/jacket/belt(maybe even all three?) from crowd surfing over my head at their Portsmouth Guildhall gig on 25 October 1989.
I remember Bjork taking a bite of an apple and throwing it into the crowd at Pompey too (I wonder if anyone kept it - they could put it on eBay now!).
The Sugarcubes were great live - I must watch my Murder And Killing In Hell video again sometime...

i saw them for the first time opening for new order in '89 at red rocks and for the last time at their very last show at NYC's limelight in 1992. good band, but i prefer bjork's solo material.
The Sugarcubes at the Barrowlands in 1989 was my third ever gig. Was amazing. Would love to see them again, especially in Iceland. Think I'll wait for the inevitable comeback tour though.

If you are inferring Bjork's career has 'gone off the rails' your taking bollocks mate. Yes she might not be in the Top 20 a la 93-99, but her output is more experimental & avant guard than most performers. Just because your not all over the place doesn't mean your career has gone off the rails. Most Bjork enthusiasts like myself agree that her current output is her most productive. The same feeling i used to get when i waited for the next New Order single and rushed out on a Monday to buy it.
I used to quite like Einar's singing!

Only seen them once live at Reading '89 (same year as New Order), whereupon Einar said "All you people seem to forget, the Mission aren't playing until Sunday, Go back to your tents!" - classic!

My parents wouldn't let me go to that concert as it was on a school night. PIL, Sugarcubes and NO! I really wish I could have gone!

Friday 11th December 1987 Town and country club (london debut gig) then a few other times over the years including cambridge theatre supported by jesus and marychain (acoustic!!).
Classic live band but mad as a bag of spanners..........
saw them a couple of times, top band - picked up lifes too good on cd recently - the vinyl came in six different colour sleeves (sound familiar at all?) but the cd was only ever in green wasn't it?
first album defo the best - the others couldn't live up to motorcrash/ cat/ birthday/ deus/ regina etc

i love the sugarcubes and i love Bjork;s oslo stuff too, although some of the reent stuff is really really "out there"
sugarcubes stuff nowhere near as experimental as the Bjork solo stuff.
but as you can see from others comments, the male singer tried all this weird shouting over her singing, still great material though

I think even in its darkest moments, the film has a lot to say about hope.

Freakin fantastic show. I saw this tour in Toronto, first NO gig. Bjork and Einar came out into the stands to sign autographs, security kept trying to get rid of them, so they hid around the side where no one could see them. Then, Johnny rotten came out on a golf cart toward the stage, and Einar gave him a big kick in the ass.
funniest part of the show, the front row was full of all these housers looking for the Technique material and had no interest in the Sugarcubes, so part way through their set, Bjork and Einar said "it's like church in here, everybody's quiet. So if it's church, we'll just sit and be quiet." Then they sat down and didn't do anything for about 5 minutes.
Johnny Rotten told the guys in the front that they were all wankers and that we in the stands deserved the front seats. That got them to make some noise. All in all, a great show.

Had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times, Brum x 2 and Reading '89 before the Order came on. Bjork's voice live is amazing

I will be in Reykjevik that weekend and I will try to get tix!
I seen Sugarcubes open for New Order in Toronto on the Technique tour and I've seen Bjork three times already!

einar was banging on about the tour bus being full of crumbs at the sugarcubes one wasn't he?

Your memories better than mine!! I'd have to say the Roses gig was the most memorable - they were due to play Edwards No7 but the gig was moved to the 'larger' venue due to demand!! Burberries was a funny venue saw bands like New Fads, Soup Dragons and King of the Slums there.

he had a little matchbox model tour bus & they said that was their actual one they drive around in...
almost went to dudley to see the roses but missed the bus, saw them on the same tour as the one you did but back home in bristol
that pixies burberries one - they didn't rope the stage off behind the band (you remember the bands played on the dancefloor?) so you could go right around them - so to get to the front of the crowd we just went round the back behind dave on the drums, ran through the band & voila, front of the stage!

I remember the mirrors over the 'pit' and condensation used to drip back onto you if you were at the front! I now remember seeing the Railway Children there and they were good.
