he used to be a hero of mine, when he was dragging Ferrari to the front, but since then he has ground me into serious dislike for him. His refusal to race anywhere but in the pitlane and the stewards office (and under red flags of course) is unbelievable. The way Ferrari get rules "re-interperated" to suit them when he's losing ( eg, Renault's mass damper, or michelin's front tyre a coupla years ago...grrrr that still makes me really angry ). It's Bizarre, 7-8 years ago, Ferrari were treated like shit by the FIA, McLaren got away with murder, now we seem to be in this period of over-compensation or something.

Anyway, I will be glad to see the back of the bastard, but TOTALLY look forward to him returning one day with his own team...."Dick Von Dastardly GP Racing".

Ron's German, he learned English from a bunch of Nth generation horse twokkers, and HE got it!!!

He was fast and fun to watch. I liked his exploration of the far boundaries of the rules and also the way that his domination of the sport allowed him to get away with more than the other drivers on occasion.

Schumacher was never a runner: he was a racer. The point of entering all those races was not to enjoy it, to create a spectacle for the public, revenue for the team or exposure for the sponsors. It was to win.

Throughout his career, he has exposed just about every sordid and dishonest part of the whole F1 Revue. Because of his driving brilliance he has been impossible to ignore or push his talent under the carpet. The pathetic attempts to do just that in recent years, I am talking about changing the fucking rules so that the fastest man in the best car doesn't always win the race, all failed in the long run purely because of his sheer determination and his ability to alter his game to suit any set of circumstances.

With Michael around, the other players in the league have had a touch choice to make – raise their game to the level of his or mope around complaining about it. The Finns were the only ones who rose to the challenge of beating him and look at what happened to them. Mika went mad with the stress of it all and had to retire and Kimi went more or less the same way. No one has been able to keep up the level of intensity required to beat the Master. The list of pissy playboys who would rather fuck around than actually race for a living is long. His team-mates never managed it – Irvine wasn’t worthy to breathe his fumes and although Barachello started as a loyal No2, his form waned when he actually started to believe that he was good enough to challenge for races. This one he has now seems to understand the role better than the rest. The other teams have been full of drivers with enough skill to challenge for races if they’d just stopped winging about Schumacher and got on with the races.

But no one could. His talent and determination were too great for anyone sustain a challenge to.

If there’s any justice in the world, Shuey will mop up the remaining records during this season and retire as champion. And I don’t believe for a second that he won’t be playing a key role in the Ferrari team in the years to come – passion like that won’t just fuck off to Switzerland to play with his dogs and that blonde.

The sad things about him going is that all the also-rans in the pack will now get more of a chance to plod around and win the odd race. The sport will be poorer without the constant threat posed to anyone who dares to take his eye off the ball for one second.
