The Second Coming

Just got it on CD, never heard the hidden track before. Two or three of them are better than I remembered, it's a decent album, just didn't capture the zeitgeist. In stark contrast to the 1st one.

I've just bought a couple of DVDs worth of Radio 1 Essential Mixes from ebay.

More for nostalgia purposes than anything else really.

Couple of old faves in there which I used to cane to death: Pete Wardman, Stretch & Vern and Tall Paul.

But I remember Welshcake telling me way back in 95 that the Snap (remember them?) Essential Mix was the best he'd heard at that point (the Essential Mix had only been running 18 months then) and I've just played that through for the first time last night, then all 2hrs again this morning whilst wandering darn Oxford Street. Top stuff.

Mostly been suffering the noise pollution of countless teenagers in town whilst trying to get a few things.Every single fcuker wears them skinny fit ultra drainpiped jeans and crap "indie" haircuts and fcuckin Razorlight tshirts .Kill em all i say .kill em all! :machinegun: ,Rant over.I actually can't get that 'America' song by Razorshite out me head this weekend arrghh!!! :angry: .Guitar does sound a bit Billy Bragg circa 85 in places though ,have to admit i like that.:)

I agree, its a very good album, and one that does stand up to repeated listening. Its not as immediate as the 1st one, but that makes it all the better to listen to

Their album The Meadowlands was the best of 2003. No joke.

Saw them at the PASTE festival in Atlanta last night with Todd Snyder, Bain Maddox, and Now It's Overhead. Fuckin asskicking bill. The Wrens rocked the house as usual.

I was just reading something mentioning the wrens the other day. I bought meadowlands a few months ago and just couldn't get into it. Some of the songs were just a little too emo-y (for lack of a better word) and everythig else was all over the map. Just no cohesion to that album to my ears. I'll have to throw it on again and see if it sounds different as I've only heard it 2 or 3 times. As you mentioned, that album came out a few years ago and I'm still hearing great things about it now. :shrug:

This weekend been listening alot to the Transplants' first album....great album (but one that had to grow on me).
