I think more need to put the Media in their place. I'm glad Clinton did this, and not because it was a left-wing taking on a right wing news show, simply because it needs to be done....just as much a right wing needs to do it on a left wing news show. Media thinks they are way too important. They need to stop putting in hidden agenda and simply tell the news.

Agreed, and this applies mostly to the right-wing contingent (though some liberal or not obviously political newsreaders are guilty of self-importance). My big beef with Fox is, when Clinton was in office, certain shows and personalities ran wild with anti-Clinton stuff that was obviously untrue. But now that Bush is in there, it's treason to take on the office of the presidency. Please, if we don't scrutinize and question our leaders, we get in situations like Vietnam, Iraq, the conditions that led to the Civil War, and so on. Call a spade a spade, you jackasses.

Just read the full rough transcript, and its refreshing to see an American President speak a lot of sense, certainly compared to the last six years.

He deffo seems still in pain at not getting bin Laden, whilst putting in a great deal of effort at the time, even though most of us around the world hadnt even heard of him.

The one thing you realise instantly, is that Clinton has a much better understanding of the world and its massive cultural differences than the current administration.

Top dog in my book. And this is a non partisan view, cos i dont give a shit about US party politics.

Thanks for that! 'Twas hilarious. Of course the question was cooked somewhere in the Fox and I'm glad that Clinton smelled it right away. Even though I'm not a Clinton supporter.

Chris Wallace went from being a respectable (if riding the coatails of his dad) presenter on ABC to a tool on Fox. I doubt they'll run the whole interview, but I guarentee the captions will read something like "Clinton Attacks Fox News!", "Is Clinton Mad?", "Who Pooped In Clinton's Cereal?", "President Clinton: 'I Like Boys!'", or "Clinton Rabies Shot Unsuccessful"

I saw this and was just thrilled. I admit I hate Bush and figure he is worse than Nixon.

The politics of fear has replaced reason. Dissent of any view is viewed as suspicious at best, treasonous at worst. Attack dogs have replaced reasoned debate. One either hides from criticism or says the accuser is mean, unAmerican and ill advised. There is no accountability for mistakes. TV news is not about thought- it is get the sound bite.

I am happy to see Clinton, or anyone, stand up and shoot straight. He defended himself confidently and called the bluff.

Good points. Recently, I've decided to watch news from different stations, or to not watch news at all if I see that the networks are at each others' throats and watch C-SPAN instead. With the midterm elections coming up, I'm mainly deciding my candidates by watching C-SPAN.

They pilled out quotes from a Fox News interview with Richard Clarke that softened the impact of Clinton's comments. It is easy with editing to pick out the right soundbites or quotes-just forget about the orginal context!!

It seems to me that everyone loves that Clinton talked back to a conservative media....not that someone talked back to the media in general. Does no one else realize that this happens on ALL media programs?

one does not often get a good chance to talk back to conservative media. they have a tendancy to cut off or belittle opposing points of view.

that all media gives you the chance to talk back.

then you say

that no media really gives an opportunity for guests to express opposing points of view.

Not sure where the contradiction is. Most guests are don't really strike back at the shows. They are more worried about the political backlash they can cause. Piss off the media and it will come back at you with a vengance. So most will defend themselves, but not go full effort into it. Clinton went all out, which doesn't happen often. (not a suprise, however, that he was prepared, as with all the heat over the recent ABC series, it probably seemed likely to happen).

Personally I would like to see more "no holds bared" type of talking back to the media more often...but eveyone is afraid of the backlash.

People get cut off on both liberal and conservative shows, it is just different methods. Conservatives have a "take no shit" attitude, so they follow this by interrupting people. Liberal shows allow the person to talk, but then talk down to them trying to turn thier words around to something they didn't mean. The liberal one is a bit more subtle, but in the end it ceases people from proper communication.

simple really. either tv shows let their interviewees freely express their opinions, or they don't.

When I said this I didn't mean that everyone is allowed to talk back on the shows, but that all media programs do what the Fox network show did to Clinton (within thier normal way of accomplishing it, as I stated earlier).
