I've booked a hotel this Saturday in Birmingham, will I be able to see th'illuminations then?
Don't think i've ever booked ahead of going to Blackpool. We used to go for weekends there all the time in our youth and just found a B&B when we got there. Will probably do the same on Oct 16th![]()

We were at Blackpool a few weeks back Johnny, and it was very busy and chocca with holiday makers.I never bothered booking and got big family room for 3 nights(which is not always easy)..I'm on my own this time so it should,in theory,be a piece of piss just turning up and finding a B+B.
always loads of rooms.even with the blackpool lights being on.some are just 15 pound a night per person but you dont get a working light in them rooms though ![]()
There really are some horrendous B & B's. I stayed in one with the carpet in mismatched patches, floral wallpaper upside down, cig burns everywhere, dirty sink, etc.
I was only 18 at the time so put up with it, but there's no chance now. Hopefully things should have improved somewhat.
About 10 years ago i stayed in one that had an old aluminium kitchen sink and a bike in one corner. And for some reason the bed was full of saw dust? Mind you, what was i expecting for a tenner! ![]()
Then we stayed in one opposite Blackpool footy club, this was the best. We went down to breakfast the day after. We say to the lady serving, "2 full English, 1 vegetarian please".
So the lady walks off into the kitchen only to return a minute later. "So, do you want some bacon?"
"No, no bacon I don't eat meat at all"
"Right"
Off she shuffles again only to reappear a few seconds later
"What about sausage then? Will you have a nice sausage?"
"No, I'm a vegetarian, I don't eat meat, so no, no bacon, no sausage"
"What about black pudding?"
By this point we were all trying not to fall off our chairs laughing.
Have to say when it did come it was brilliant!
early 80's me and a couple of mates staying in a b&b and the room had no window
it was advertised as licenced bar so we asked the landlady when the bar opens and she said " hopefully next tuesday when i get my licence back " ![]()
My mate stayed in a B&B with no heating controls in the room. It was the middle of winter, but the room was unbearably warm. He spent the night pressing his bare arse onto the cold window, then dashing into bed to cool his wife down with it.
That's true love, that is ![]()

Was the website written by Everton players in their afternoons off?
No. Leeds players I'm afraid. They go missing in matches.
