Wow....I can see where NO got the inspiration... some of the album covers are statuesque like.... this is almost like a cross between laurie anderson and the blue man group, but original of course. :D

Kraftwerk were formed in 1965, believe it or not. No crossing with anything.

Appart from New Order Kraftwerk are my second favourite band and had priviledge of seeing their 'late' Minimum Maximum gig at the Brixton Academy in March 2004 which was absolutely awesome. They've influenced and changed music so much over the last +30 years (Hip Hop, House, Techno and their spin offs) and my recomendations for albums would include:

Minimum Maximum - Live CD/DVDTour De France Soundtracks - CDComputeworld - CDThe Man Machine - CDTrans Europe Express - CDThe Mix - CDRadioactivity - CDAutobahn - CDElectric Cafe - CD

Although Tour De France itself is a great track,i thought that album they had about 3 years ago Soundtracks was crap. The Mix as someone said is a good starting point,and as close to a greatest hits you`re likely to see.

Right. I cannot listen to the whole album. I get bored very quickly. Maybe drugs are needed, like the cyclistes use.

Kraftwerk... I have all the lps with English/other languages lyrics. Trans Europe Express with les mannequins in place of showroom dummies. Computerworld with minicalculateur instead of pocket calculator... Well, the last LP I have is Electric Café. The Mix and Tour de France are CDs. I also have the German releases on CDs, except Computerwelt as LP. I must find Electric Café and the Mix in German.

Curiously, I have no interest in Maximum-Minimum. I fear that it could alter my memories of the concert I attended in 1991.

Still fancy to put Neon Lights vinyl on the turntable. The vinyl is fluorescent like.

And very happy to have an original copy of Ralf & Florian...

If you liked the Aguirre soundtrack, you'll like some of the other Herzog soundtracks, especially Nosferatu and Heart of Glass.

If you discount the first four (or is it five?) tracks that are all one big connected instrumental blur then it's a really good album. Vitamin and ElectroKardiogramm are worth the £12.99 alone.

Yeah Vitamin and ElectroKardiogramm are two top tunes and its a pity Kraftwerk didn't relese them as singles. I also enjoyed Aero Dynamik as well and I hope Ralf and Florian get something together in the studio some day. Cheers!

I actually really like Tour de France Soundtracks, i think it flows really well and theres no track on it i dislike. And the Dynamix of Aerodynamik is one of my favourite ever tracks.

Even now, the likes of Computer World, Autobahn and The Man Machine still sound great.

I repair computers, so the sounds that they create on thier albums are not too bothersome, except if they drag on for too long or something in the sound is so constant that it is putting me to sleep.

They are legends and some of the ex-Kraftwerk members stuff is quite good as well,with particular reference to Karl Bartos, who has collaborated with Bernard in the Electronic Raise The Pressure era and also with OMD's Andy McCluskey. Albums of his that are worth seeking out are the Electrik Music Esperanto album and Communication released under his own name. He performs his own versions of Kraftwerk songs live, some of which are also featured on YouTube. He's done OK for himself after leaving Kraftwerk considering he was just originally hired as an additional electronic percussionist for the first US Kraftwerk tour to support Autobahn.

Another of the earlier clips worth checking on YouTube is for a live German TV performance of "Tanzmuzik" which was the first time that Kraftwerk were using Florian's handbuilt syndrums and the first time Wolfgang Flur did a live gig with Ralf and Florian.

I guess you did not mention the second album of Electric Music as it is far to be a chef-d'oeuvre ?

Aye ,got a lot of their stuff and seen them a few times live (Brixton late show 2004 being the most recent).Min -Max DVD is ace

i practically grew I currently only up with them, so their music at the time didn't seem all that extraordinary. I currently own only that mix cd. I aim to get more.
