Would it have been possible that Ian Curtis might have had a form of Parkinson's rather than epilepsy? I was just wondering because even though I'm not familiar with what seizures are what, my grandmother does not stay upright but for 10 seconds during her seizures, and its on the floor,there after or on the chair...don't mean to bring this sort of thing up, it just came to me.

parkinson's is constant unless treated with medication (i remember the sound of the saucers shaking violently as my grandmother brought in the tea). epilepsy comes in either frequent or infrequent petit or grand mal seizures. with parkinson's the person doesn't lose consciousness, with epilepsy he or she does. as burt said, ian definitely didn't have parkinson's.
Even if Ian had Parkinsons, it would have been the young onset one. (Michael J. Fox's would be young onset, occurring before the age of 40.) However, I don't know if very obvious shaking would be the start of Parkinson's, per se. I think most people would notice the disease before they would be shaking violently.
To be honest, I don't know. It would have been wonderful if Ian hadn't died that young and if America would have heard of them when they should have.

read up on epilepsy again. complex partial seizure? g'ma has atonic seizures....i didn't realize that someone could have a seizure and still be doing something.....oh,well....
learned something new...
there are seizure types where you don't lose consciousness: myoclonic seizures, simple partial seizures.. can be very frequent and they're a bitch. Bleh. Anyway, epilepsy can be diagnosed very easily with eeg tests, so why doubt the diagnose?
