Madonna: True Philanthropist or Headline Grabbing Whore?

Are we soon gonna start seeing little orphaned heads sticking out of Gucci handbags - more attractive than chihuahuas... Is she really wanted to do something positive for disadvantaged kids, start closer to home... If the whole thing is anything other than a publicity stunt or a selfish act, she really should have wised up as soon as there was any opposition from inside or outside Malawi and stopped the whole sorry charade...

I've only seen little bits on the news about this, and I'm not even going to read the posts on this thread - that's how determined I am not to devote time to this horror story. Is she really so bored that she needs to do this? What image is she trying to project with this blatant abuse of her wealth? Why doesn't Guy DO something instead of standing around like a puppet with half the strings cut?

Just mark me down as a vote for HGW.

I personally think it's far from a coincidence Madge is wanting to adopt an African orphan so soon after Angelina Jolie. It must have gone through people's minds that Madge is probably playing "keeping up with the Joneses" in terms of the latest celeb trend. Surely somebody's got to draw the line at a helpless orphan being a celeb accessory though?!

It's not like she'll abuse him or he'll be starving tho..

To be fair to her,see keeps the kids out of the papers and spotlight,gotta be a better future for the little lad.

As long as her celebdaq shares keep going up I hope this story is well and truly milked.

The kid isn't an orphan - his own father is trying to get the adoption to go through. He thinks the kid will get a better education then come back to help his community.

Headline Grabbing Whore

I think most people that go to 3rd world countries for adoptions usually have two things in mind:

1. They want the attention of everybody on how they are doing a great job. (Since it's an ice breaker to have a child of different skin color than yourself, then one that is)

2)These people are feeling inadequate somewhere, thus needing the attention from others.

I have a neighbor down the street that flew all the way to China to adopt. They kept knocking on everyone's door talking about how many days left to go pick her up and gave a website that they created so that everyone could "keep tabs" on thier every move while over there. When they came back they were looking for some sort of fanfare....I was one of the only ones that didn't give two rat's asses, and didn't knock on their door.

Though Madonna and my neighbors are sucking for attention, the main defense is that our adoption process has so much red tape that it does take forever to actually adopt a child; whereas adopting from another country is a quicker process (as crazy as that sounds).

all these celebrities are driving up the price of the good looking orphans. :D

wouldn't be surprising at all.. if the he can dance. The aside is that she has been good not to flounce around her children in the press. Though continuing the OT aside is Gwen Stefani is ultra cool and has seemingly tried to live a fairly regular lifestyle while some press has caught pictures of their newest little 'un.

As for Madonna or any STAR they can do much more good behind the scenes if their intentions are good.

She must be barren as the Sahara, considering "Madonna Version 2.0" keeps popping 'em out with K-Fed. That's the rub, my friends
