alright, folks. Will be in Brussels 12-15 November and Manchester 15-19 November

I'm going to Brussels for a work trip, is there anything I should definitely see? I'll be arriving on a Sunday and I'll have my weekday evenings free.

Then I'm going to use two days vacation and go to Manchester, mostly because City is playing Fulham on Saturday and I'd like to go to a match that City can win. Is any one up for any drunken debachery (during which our pants will stay on) Thursday or Friday?

Also, does any City Supporter want to go to the match with me? I have an international supporters card... but like I don't know what that does me... :P

Brussels is a cool place, plenty of great bars etc. My personal favourites are Cafe Kafka, just 50m from the Novotel Ste Catherine, not far from the Bourse and Bvd Anspach, and Le Coq, which is just off Bvd Anspach, almost opposite L'Ancienne Belgique where the Order played in 1981 and 1982.

Things to see - the Atomium is a bit shit, and the Mini Europe will probably be closed for the winter by now, but the Military Museum is essential, the Art Gallery featuring a whole load of Hieronymus Bosch is unbelievable, and the food is top drawer.

Have a good trip, only slightly jealous as I love Brussels and haven't been for 18 months.

I'm coming to the opinion that one European capital city is very much like another. I was in Rome in the summer (arriving on World Cup Final day no less) and it bored the shit out of me. Cobbled streets? Check. "Stunning" architecture? River tours? Check. Shitey overpriced tourist restaurants? Check.

Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Prague, Vienna....they all blend into one for me. If someone could recommend somewhere in Europe that is a wee bit different to everywhere else it would save me a fortune on longhaul flights every year.

Been there loads. Used to live a 40 minute car ride away in Novy Jicin. Same old same old in my opinion. You sure your not getting it mixed up with Bratislava as portrayed in "Hostel"? Nae big blonde Tally burds trying to jump my bones when I was there.

Don't know for sure but reckon it's a more popular tourist destination than Paris or Dublin. Was never this "undiscovered gem" that many Yanks like to portray it as. Was full of the cnuts when I first went out just a year after the revolution. If it's the cobbled streets and gothic architecture (yawwwn!) yer after but minus the tourists head for Olomouc about a 3 hour train ride away. Great knockin shops too

cinqueterre, in italy. it's gorgeous and they can't build any hotels there because it's a national historical site. it's 5 towns, just south of genoa, rechable only by train (i think). highly recommended. especially if you want to see naked men bathing--which i know you do.
