work told me that I'd have to pay for my hotel room in brussels on my credit card and then be reimbursed.

No problem really, I have the money and once it's spent and I get reimbursed I always make silly purchases because it's like "free money" to me later...

Anyway, I do not have a credit card with a limit high enough to take the hotel room for 4 nights in euros. If the euro vis a vis the dollar was still 1:1, i'd have no problem. But 1:1.28 is a bit much. It's also 28% more expensive than a comprable room in new york, so you'd think they'd be nice enough to adjust their prices!

Jesus, so I had to make the embarressing "my card doesn't have a 2000 dollar limit, will they take a check?" call.

Everything will be billed to my work, and I will not get to "earn miles" by using my card to pay for the hotel.

Now that the shit economy actually affects me I care.

The dollar is great for us,its currently £1 = $1.83,so we get a great deal on purchases and trips.

It's ace. I just got a pair of adidas net 80 for £53 including $30 for postage.

at least our dollar is almost looking respectable again.

Well, most companies will advance funds if needed for such trips.

And btw, you're lucky, I'd love very much to go there!

My company paid for it..I just wanted to miles.

Some sections are similar to "old" cities like Montreal but it's quite beautiful and really really really nice here. If I could communicate with more people I bet i'd have an even better time.

I've got a day and a half to explore and I'm really looking forward to it.

i discovered how truly shit the dollar really is when i was in scotland and england this summer. it was almost $2 to the pound! i blew all of my savings and then some. needless to say, i was not happy and i had to ask my parents for money like a teenager. :(
