Death of a newscaster

Ed Bradley died.

Have you ever noticed that once one of the big reporters dies, they coverage and talk shows discuss about thier life with more coverage than the world series, world cup, and super bowl?

well they sort of become part of your life. we used to sometimes get his reports on our 60 minutes. he was one of the good guys. i think.

A damn good interviewer and journalist, he will be missed

never thought Mike Wallace would outlive anyone. Now when are Andy Rooney and Mickey Rooney going to have a proper duel?

WHAT? this is the first i've heard of it! i really liked him, as well. i even bumped into him once. i was waiting to see 'the age of innocence' at the ziegfeld theatre in NYC and we were near the end of the line (around the block); ed bradley came up to the people behind us and started chatting with them. obviously he knew them, and he said the film was a good one as he had just come out of the theatre. he was right. shame.

I used to watch 60 mins when it was in in the mniddle of the night on ITV, a proper journo if ever there was one, and one of the last of a dying breed it seems.

I fear you credit me unduly sir, for even upon searching I ca find no pun. Unless you mean dying breed, in which case, well..IS that a pun, I don't think so, I meant they ARE dying out...dropping like flies, piling up in alleys, that sort of thing ;)

i always thought it was cool how he wore that big earring in his left ear. i mean, how many male newscasters wear earrings?

he wasn't on 60 minutes last week but he was on the week before, so this must have happened very quickly. over the past several months you could tell he was looking quite old and weak, even though he didn't publicly announce his leukemia. i just thought it was his age catching up with him.

I'm surprised that Ed Bradley died... I'm used to seeing him on 60 Minutes. He will be missed...

Jack Palance? I still think that Harvey Keitel should have received the Best Supporting Actor Oscar instead of him for 1991... but I liked City Slickers... (not the sequel)
