American "Country" Music

Can't have country & western at all. Though I am a huge fan of alt country singer Ryan Adams & his former band Whiskeytown.

I was getting a headache reading all of this. I generally don't pay attention to the mainstream and hunt for music I like through the web who are on independent labels and/or not out in the mainstream as heavy. Country has become diluted and unoriginal these days. I used to love George Strait and still do. Wanda Jackson,Patsy Cline,Willie Nelson etc.. I still shock middle aged people on up singing along to oldies/country music....

Believe it or not, Ryan Adams and I came from the same town: Jacksonville, NC.

Sweethearts is a great album indeed, would've loved to have seen The Byrds play at the Grand Old Opry that year.

I absolutely hate "modern" country music, my dad has tons of the classic stuff (Cash, Jones, Robbins, Frizell, Nelson, etc.) so I have to laugh at people like Keith Urban or Kenny Chesney. Alan Jackson or Brad Paisley aren't bad in comparison, but the rest is gawdawfaul. Only modern country music I have is Dwight Yoakam; any country gent eager to play shows with people like Hüsker Dü is okay by me.

This is NOT a good place to live for those of us who dislike this racket.

My dad had requested me burn him a CD with his country songs. One of the songs in it was Toby Keith's "Angry American."

Hopefully the only "angry" song on the CD...
