Hi i recently went to see a genisis tribute band expectin them to play hits like thats all mama no son of mine But when the group came on they said they only guna play stuff from 72/78 and all the fans went wild

I hadnt heard of any of the songs they played My point is why dont genisis fans like the stuff from the 80s on wards

Is there any new order fans who also like genisis

I'm taking the old man to see Genesis next July, and the reason a lot of Genesis fans dont like it is because of one reason:

Phil Collins.

With Gabriel singing, Genesis were mad, and as uncommericial as you could hope. One of the founders, if you ask me, of alternative music. Chekc out Suppers Ready, or the albums The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway or Selling England by the pound. Its just wierd. But in many ways, brilliant.

When Gabriel left, they just became a pop group. Doing songs like Follow You, Follow Me, I Cant Dance, Invisible Touch. So the basic belief was that they "sold out." I think they didnt have much option, if collins had been Gabriel make 2, dressing up as a sunflower and singing about birds eating worms it would have been a disaster.

And thats the reason why.

Spot on, Gabriel took the credibility and creativity with him.
