O/T-CURVE's New album

Okay you CURVE fans, the new album titled "The New Adventures of Curve" will be out in a month or two :) There will be two new remixes of "Superblaster" and "Recovery" and about 7 other new songs! i've haven't heard it. actually, i can't remember what they sound like exactly. do they still have that shoegazer sound to their music?

I am the worst person with describing music. I don't think that they have a shoegazer sound(well, maybe kinda). People compare GARBAGE to them. If you check out their website, it has some new MP3's to listen to. Listen to it if you have a minute and tell me what ya think! :) Their stuff is so amazing! If you like MBV, then you will probably like CURVE, and Toni Halliday is just so beautiful!:happytongue:

man, they move QUICKLY! seems like Gift came out only yesterday! and MNS is great...in fact, finally got Open Day at the Hate Fest from them a few months ago.

(just hope someone proofreads the liner notes a little better than they did for that compilation this time round! )

Maybe Gift didn't come out yesterday, but I just picked it up Sunday, so it may as well have. From that perspective, it seems like Curve is just crankin' 'em out. Go Dean!

Anyone who cares about such things should check out the QuickTime VR panorama of Todal studios (I'll take the Jaguar at the very back of the guitar rack, please). Somewhere on Apple's site is a nice VR of Trent Reznor's studio as well.

Hey there Candy, I didn't say that I compared them to Garbage-I said PEOPLE do (I don't see the comparison myself). As for the My Bloody Valentine Comparison, the only likeness I think that have is with the scratchy guitars. I am generally saying that most MBV fans usually like CURVE. Remember, I did say that I suck at describing music

CTB-I have the Lifeforms album, but don't remember the Collaboration on it! I will check that out today-Thank You! I do have to say that I disagree with you on their new stuff. I think it is amazing. It really took one or two listens to GIFT, for it to really grow on me. ODATHF was a compilation of MP3's that they have had around for a while, and I liked that as well(not their best but still cool that they made it). I do love their old stuff a lot more, but to me they are just a kickass band!

Was "Superblasters" ever offically released in UK as a single from "Cuckoo"? I know "Missing Link" was supposed to be the only known release off that album, with Curve even planning on "Crystal" (HA HA - CONTENTIOUS TITLE OR WHAT? WELL GUESS WHAT ORDER AFFICIONADOS, CURVE BEAT THEM TO IT....NYER NYER NE-NYER NYERRR!!!) being the second single....but that didn't happen in the end.

Reason why I ask is that on Curve's official website, "Superblasters" (obviously the second most immediate track from that album and MY choice for an inevitable single likewise) is listed as a single release with its exclusive cover and two other tracks on it too. I'm positive I never saw this issued in UK.

Anyone know anything about this discrepancy??

I have!!!! And better still is Toni's contribution to two tracks from a RECOIL album of 1993 "Bloodline"- the title track and one called "Edge To Life" - this latter one an absolute gem!! Great song! This album from ex-Depeche Moder Alan Wilder also featured MOBY and NITZER EBB's Douglas McCarthy and is worth investigating. Especially for McCarthy's rendition of Sensational Alex Harvey Band's legendary "Faith Healer" chestnut from 1973.

Yeah, I guess I damned them with feint praise back there, didn't I? I actually really liked the early Curve stuff, I guess I have just become more cynical as I have got older. The new stuff still does sound V good though.

You definately should track down 'The Argument' if you like some of Fugazi's more 'downbeat' stuff. IMHO it's their best since Red Medicine, which is probably my fave album of theirs. The Argument follows on nicely from End Hits, and is actually quite melodic and tuneful at times - even Mackay & Picciotto sing (ie not the yelling type) on some tracks! My personal highlights are Cashout, Full Disclosure, Epic Problem and Argument. These might be available on Audiogalaxy if you want to 'try before you buy'! CTB

If it is anything Fugazi, I highly doubt that I will be disappointed! I have heard mixed reviews on the new stuff though. My favorite of theirs is anything on "In on the Killtaker" and everything album before it. The song that made me love them was Waiting Room", "Repeater", and "Suggestion" I think I will swerve on over to Audiogalaxy and check it out. Thanks

No problem, Kimberly. I too absolutely love 'In on the Killtaker', particularly those first couple of songs - they really knock the wind of you. Red Medicine is amazing as well, so don't believe what you've read - if you liked Killtaker, you will like Red Medicine, I guarantee it. Look for a track called 'Birthday Pony' on Audiogalaxy as an example of how great this album is! CTB

Oh yeah, about that new Curve record...they say it "features 7 new songs along with two new re-recordings of Superblaster and Recovery, both of which are very different from the originals."

But I already have a new re-recording of Recovery on Come Clean, which itself is quite different from the "original" recording on the Pink Girl With The Blues single.

Hey Marty, Superblasters was previously released as a single! It had two other songs on it "Low and Behold" and "Nothing Without me" Unfortunately I do not have it, but my new goal in life is to hunt down as many Curve singles as possible since my collection lacks many of them:)

Go to the Curve website and listen to their MP3 of "Worst Mistake", I think you will dig it! :D

yes, i do believe i may have to hunt down all the singles and such i'm missing as well. i keep finding more and more stuff to look for...i really ought to keep a little checklist.

this will, of course, grow exponentially in danger levels once i have a working turntable again. and lately, even not having one that works hasn't stopped me from buying copious amounts of vinyl...which then sits and taunts me.

that being said, there was an interesting-looking three-LP collection of people doing covers of chart-topping hits from the past few decades. i think it had something to do with NME...i saw it on eBay awhile ago. and it did involve Curve doing a cover of something-or-other...was it maybe "I'm Not In Love"...? i can't recall, off the top of my head. i think it involved Tori Amos doing a cover of "Ring My Bell," too.

You know the most bestest thing about Curve, though? Midway through either version of "Recovery" there surfaces this nasty, horrible screeching sound that you can't quite place...is it just squalling guitar feedback, or an overdriven synth through a ring modulator?

Then at the end it starts enunciating and you realize it's just Toni screaming all that time...

She's a smokin' hottie. A stone fox. I would have paid for the ticket just to see her emerge from that copious stage smoke in that killer pinstripe suit.

I'm still getting loads of childish pleasure (almost to the point of orgasm au naturellement mes amis) from playing with those ambient buttons on their website...I'm wondering just how many different configurations you can press them in turn...Gnu, you're a professor of technical prowess ain't cha? Can you work out what the maximum number of permitted combinations are from pressing all those wow buttons for maximum pleasure...??

I do believe at least one of the Spider-Man trailers had Lunatic Calm's "Leave You Far Behind" in the background, apparently to comply with the federal law that every action movie trailer released have "Leave You Far Behind" in the background.

i have to say, i've never been a fan of normal superhero comics. i actually am a comic-loving girl, but most stuff i like is either foreign or independent...but this whole Spiderman thing makes me angry for anyone who is/was a Spiderman fan. it seems like Spiderman is rarely ever done right by...witness the TERRIBLE recent cartoon series, and now this! the movie just looks terrible to me, and the soundtrack looks bad as well.

now, had it been a *cool* movie, perhaps they would've used the Ramones' version of the Spiderman theme instead of that atrocious Aerowank version...

...er, and i haven't even had any caffeine today. ;)

honestly? i was shocked they were using HAW in the trailer, but with as bad as it looks, i'm *glad* if Curve have nothing to do with it. but it's often the case that completely different music ends up in trailers than actually ends up on the soundtracks to things...

Actually, I saw the Spider Man movie tonight, and I loved it. My husband is a huge comic book fan, and was very impressed with how it was done also-he is very picky about the comic book movies that get released too. I really reccomend checking out the movie! Soundtrack sucks, but I am looking forward to the next Spider-Man flick. Hopefully with the next one, they will play better music in the movie!
