Mine was the fcuking awful Kestrel in my early teens. Think I nicked it from under the stairs in our house, there was probably a reason it was languishing away under there. Not the best lager in the world but did the trick at the time! :nod:

Since then I'd say my main staple is Beck's, Grolsch and Asahi. Not a big fan of Stella as it guarantees a headache the next day but 'tis not bad once in a while.

Quite a fan of that Hoegaarden white beer as well. Deceptively non-alcoholic tasting but after three or four jars the evening starts becoming a pleasant blur top stuff.

that would have to have been a Haake Beck. made by Becks, but nobody in Bremen actually drinks that.

nobody in Oz drinks Fosters either strange that, that some beers seem to be reserved for export markets.

I used to always nick my Dad's when he went out, it was ages before he sussed me out.

He used to drink the usual brands - Skol, Carling, then had a phase of brewing his own. Then he resorted to cheap supermarket lager (where they pay you to take it!), beauties such as Norseman, Saracen, No frills, etc.

I'm not really a lager drinker, but I could drink gallons of the lager they served up at the Munich Oktoberfest, I forget the brand, but I drank the equivalent of 15 pints and didn't even have a hangover the next day.

I remember going into a pub for the first time,day time obviously only a fool would try his luck at 16 on a busy friday night! Think it was probably Fosters or that XXXX in the yellow pump? Remember it tasted like shit and i thought i'd never bother with a pint again-something which i've to this day stuck with!

There's no chemicals or additives allowed in German beer so no impurities means no hangovers...! :)

...Not that I have had a hangover. Strange but true!

Me and Cousin Steve (who posts on here) made the mistake of getting 4 cans each of Tennants SUPER as our very first carry out, we were both 14. It's safe to say we were sick as fcuk. But some more so than others, he was sick at least 3 times out of my bedroom windie and that was after my dad giving him a bucket :laugh:

My lager drinking began with Harp ( a fine Irish brew that tatstes more than a wee bit like beer, a fairly unique state for a lager), and pretty much all but ended the night I drank 6x carlsberg Special ( actually it was Bavaria86, exactly the same, stinking and lethal), and spent 1 hours doing the five minute walk to the bus station. Horrible.

No hangoverr's from German beer cos it has no impurities...MY BALLIX!!! I have no doubt that additive free beer hurts less, but unless it's ALCOHOL free too, you should stand to suffer SOME ill effects, if nothing else because you have pissed all your water out and left your brain rolling round yer head like the pea in a referee's whistle.

The best cure for a hangover is the same as used for sunstroke.... a pint of water with 7-10 teaspoons of sugar in it and 2-3 of salt. With a hangover this has the added effect of making it 50-50 as to whether you evacuate your stomach contents, thus getting rid of any, as yet unmotabilized alcohol. (PS, if you like drinking meths, drink diet coke instead, it (or rather the nutrasweet in it) turns into meths, then formaldahide(embalming fluid) in your stmach. )

That's the theory behind it anyway, apparently it's the impurities that create the dehydration, it just depends of the stuff you drink I suppose...

Like I say, I've no doubt that cleaner beer removes some of the nastir elements, but you can get hunover drinking gin, which is just watered down, freshly distilled grain alcohol. (and fucking rotten too)

Remember getting drunk on Woodpecker cider at a very young age thinking it was fizzy pop. Beer? Probably Long Life (specially brewed for the can) or Hofmeister. Special mention to ...

On the subject of very strong lager I used to know someone who would shotgun special brew before a night out (rest of us were amateurs sharing a bottle of Thunderbird Red), it won't surprise you to know he was from Glasgow.

Just agreeing with you that American beer generally sucks.

With a few exceptions...

I've heard of Yuengling, but haven't actually tried one. You can't get it down here.

I used to like Sam Adams Boston Lager a lot, until I got shitfaced off a night of those and cheap house shots... now the smell of it makes me want to puke.

Atlanta's Sweetwater makes some great brews, particularly their 420 pale ale.

Given a choice, though, I go for the good imports... Warsteiner, Guinness Extra, Bodingtons, depending on where I am and what mood I'm in.

Like us you probably never had the hand pull bit on the top and used one of them tin openers that punched a triangular hole in the top, do one at each end then use both hands to try hand pour out a few glasses. That caused the mess, when half empty it was much easier!

I remember the PARTY SEVENs and a RIGHT mess they made.But not as much as a MESS as i DID.Bloody hell i won't reveal my first drink but 14 i was a regular at pubs on the outskirts of BOLTON due to the fact that they served kids!USed to drink VODKA and LIME or LAGER /LIME.And PERNOD and BLACK.Glad to say i never got HOOKED on drink.Well MAYBE......but i am REFORMED now.And such a BORING twat now too....... :nono: :lol:

sorry to disappoint you further, my first "official" one was a Bud, drank it with the guys from my work at age 16 after a football match at North Albany Middle School. Once I was able to get ahold of other kinds, it was the stuff that my dad had in the house, mostly Rainier and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Some of my dad's friend's indeed reminded me a bit of Frank Booth.
