Coming to our fine city next month. Plan to go even though they're sans Ranking Roger. Saw a YouTube clip of them from a show in May and they looked pretty good.
Anyone been to a recent gig? Thoughts?

I always confuse English Beat with Modern English. Even though I know that I confuse them, my first response (luckily I keep it to myself) when someone talks about the English Beat is "I've got an orange pressing of the 12in I'll Melt With You"
This is because of my mental retardation.
Don't know what The English Beat sound like.But i did catch The Beat earlier this year.Ranking Roger has been joined on a full time basis by his son,wait for it..................... Junior Ranking (one time member of The Ordinary Boys)

There's two Beats - one which operates Stateside with Dave Wakeling, t'other which plays over here with Rankin' Roger.
i saw them last year. dave wakeling was on fine form and they sounded ace. you'll enjoy yourself.

Thanks for the feedback, AW. Saw a couple video clips when they played Bumbershoot in Seattle this summer. Looked and sounded good. Always been a fan.
