I swiped that title from the end of the Devo tune. Figured, given the way this thread has evolved, you've put me in a position to be quick on the draw, if you will, with replies.

I wish Patrick was around. I bet he could really pose some ... er ... half-baked questions. :skeptic:

Okay, Le, here's one about the father of the potato/agriculture biz, Mr. Simplot himself. Saw an item on Can't Stop The Bleeding that the gentlemen, a billionaire, fell out of the scooter he was using at Monday's Fiesta Bowl game and hit his head on the pavement and was operated on. Any new word on his condition? That'd be a sucky way to go, after such a classic game.

BTW, if you're a Bronco fan, congrats, a helluva game that I didn't miss a second of, even when it looked bleakest. Everybody I know was watching, heck even my mother called me just after and wanted to know if I was watching it  Boise must've been nuts on Monday night.

This thread's really cooking now. The chips are down for LE, he's gonna have to work on that slice'n'dice offence to catch up.

Here's a ripper of a question.

I read somewhere that the Idado State Marching Band only plays one instrument. What instrument would that be, LE?

Hey Green, I'm happy to report that the prognosis for 'ol JR is a good one. In fact, today is his 98th birthday. Though I doubt he was lubed up on potato vodka while joy riding his scooter, I hope his weekend in Phoenix was a good one despite his tumble. Those throttle's can be touchy when you're almost a century old.

And no - I'm not a Bronco fan. I attended the University of Idaho - BSU's main rival. However, the win was a great one and it was an exciting game. A proper celebration didn't occur that night, though, because I heard nothing was set on fire.

Not the (potato)skin flute, I'm hoping.

*sigh*

I did my best to set you up there.

Can you really light up a lamp with a fucking potato?

Errr, not a question as such, but I do have a cartoon somewhere of Mr. Potato Head being mugged in an alley, telling the robber "Don't shoot me........I've got a wife and tater tots at home". :drummer:

How many chips can one make from a large russet potato???

why are chips called french fries, when in france they are called pommes frittes ? (actually that's what we call them in german as well.)

I can answer that one Ronno....because Americans have always been piss poor at geography...

and because "pommes frittes" sounds awfully girly

in german it is usually just shortened to pommes.

'frenching' is a method of slicing the potato, hence french fries, or 'frenched' fries.

Down here we enjoy devouring the pommes at sports stadiums.

So Buffy, if an American chick invited me back to her pad for some "frenching", you're saying to run for it - she's probably a slasher?

'frenching' is a method...

...that no girl has ever said that I've mastered.

(1) Why do people cook potatoes in the microwave oven? They are really crappy.

(2) Why don't people make french fries from fresh potatoes anymore in the USA? Well, very few do blanch fries from raw potatoes and the fresh fries taste incredibly good, too good... Actually I know the answer, making fresh french fries is a greasy, time consuming, space consuming pain in the ass that nobody will do, as I have made them in a restaurant before.

(3) Why drives a guy to stick an Idaho baker up his ass? How do they plan on getting it back out?

(4) Can you commit suicide by eating potatoes with green skin?

Well PFOD, I can really only answer #3 and that could be a number of reasons for it happening here.

Long, cold winters.

Availability.

Being double-dog dared while lit up on malt liquor.

Or just good 'ol American curiosity: "Hey - there's a potato. Wonder what would happen  if I shoved it up my ass."

Disclaimer: This is all heresay ... of course... :uhoh:

... And just as Spiderman came into being when Parker got bit by the radioactive spider, LE became The Spudgun after his green potato encounter. His cape, supernatural potato knowledge and signature widelegged gait soon followed.

Does your realm of expertise extend to potato chips, LE?

Can you tell me anything about these badboys:

Those are great chips. Thick cut, not to salty like the chips from the big corporations, with plenty of jalapeno. Nicely spicy. Now those Kettle Chips are trying to bust in on their business but can't cut it.

Holy chip, Pope.

Sounds like they have all the things I crave in a spicy potato chip rolled into one. ie. Chilli and.. erm.. chip.

Took pole position on Taquitos Best Chips Ever Ranking.

Looking for a snack mule to smuggle some into Australia, past the forbidden food Nazis in customs. I pay top dollar.
