I have just heard that Morrissey may represent the UK in this years Eurovision Song Contest. What a Bloody joke. It would just sour the memories of the true greats of Eurovision:-

Katrina and the Waves Bucks Fizz Brotherhood of Man Lulu Sandie Shaw

I for one would rather see girls having their skirts torn off than a bloke sticking flowers up his arse. Also how is Terry Wogan supposed to stay awake with the moronic Mogodon tones of the Bob Monkhouse look alike ?

We want happy tunes not your boring crap Morrissey.

Eurovision doesn't have any rules about the nationality of the participanting performers. The individual broadcasters may, like if the BBC says you have to be British or something to enter for the UK. I don't know/can't find the UK contest rules.

Switzerland won with Celine Dion one year...she's not got any claim to Swiss citizenship. They just wanted to WIN all the glory that comes with the contest.

Going back 20 years Morrisey wrote a lengthy article for the NME promoting the 'greatness' of Sandy Shaw*. The result was a brief resurrection of her career including a spot on the Aids benefit gig at Brixton 1987. That and a couple of other occasions meant I saw Sandy Shaw three times without wanting to see her once! Morrissey, so much to answer for.

*Edit: Just remembered he said her appearance on Eurovision was some kind of disastrous hiatus in her career.

Apparently he'll only be writing the song and not singing.

Yes but they'll be doing it as Joy Division.

Read in a reasonably serious book the other night:

"If human brains were the same size in proportion to their body as an ant's, our heads would need to be three times bigger, making the whole human race look a bit like the Mekon or Morrisey"

Yes, one of the Chef's told me today - so I took it with a pinch of salt (see what I did there?); anyway, it was apparently on the BBC Radio news, mentioned alongside Johnny Marr (although said culprit said Mark Lamarr)...........

It would be funny though! And to the UK.............'nil poi'.........again.:evil4:
