hot, bloody hot and currently some nice afternoon thunderstorms,which is nice for the garden as we on water restictions. about 20 to 35 degrees an humid. normally we have dry heat here.
btw our premier alpine ski resort town less than 2 hours drive from here is under threat from bushfires. they are currently about 10 km form there.
Blowing a gale............Brought Bunny in for the night! Terrible day, loads of accidents on the road; went past the Airport this afternoon and saw a plane take off - I thought it was going to fall out of the sky - it looked as if it were being controlled by a remote in the hands of a tiny child! Scary.

Cheers Dad. I am trying to as much as possible really but the truth is can't wait to go back to see my doc first thing on Monday morning cause of some suspicious mole on my left leg that's grown bigger and darker in a way. Fun innit?

Thank fuck pilots are considered professionals in this country. In the US they pay iarline captains minimum wage...so basically you get the same sort of folks flying planes as you normally find on the tills in macdonalds.

How much do you need to pay someone before they can fly an aeroplane?
Cold, snowing and windy.....skies are blue and full of airplanes whose pilots only make $5.25 an hour.

That must have been the same thing! Why is it though - I ducked! Plus ran into - not literally - an accident on the way past the airport - a van and a car - the van ended up in the central reservation; had to drive by; but both drivers seemed ok, but its at a junction where the wind blows mad anyway...........

Also, do you want your life to be in the hands of a person who has his mind on how he is supposed to feed his kids or pay his doctor's bills?
It's a well known fact that US domestic airlines believe they are running a winged bus service, and in addition to paying bus driver wages, they skrimp on safety servicing procedures and the like. Such factors are commonly the cause of many US domestic air disasters.

You're BONED, I mean O'Hare's only up the road, it's the hub for many airlines, and one of the approach paths goes right over your house.

Well, I read up a bit on airline pay, and I have to say, you're at least partly right. Regional airlines have shockingly low pay. The national airlines pay somewhat better starting salaries, with top pay in the six figures, as it was in the glory years....

Oh I know the long haul boys get proper pay (I suppose cos they have the option of pissing off to a foreign airline), but US domestic...as you say, shocking.

I'm glad I'm not on the top floor of my building
70 mph gales through Britain today.At least 8 people dead.2 year old toddler down London,and a few people round Manchester.M60 motorway was at a standstill,as was every single road heading anywhere near city centre. Sat in my car for 4 1/2 hours on a ten mile journey tonight.
Trains completeley shafted, and it happened to be the day I returned home from Telford today...
Telford --> Wolverhampton (first train cancelled, second one slow) Wolverhampton --> London (cancelled, no trains) Wolverhampton --> Birmingham New Street (eventually!) Birmingham New Street --> Leicester (eventually, but was hoping to end up in Cambridge!) Leicester --> Luton (eventually – luckily I didn’t go all the way to London, as Kings Cross line was knackered!) Luton --> Welwyn Garden City (by taxi – paid for by rail company!)
Nothing going in any kind of long-distance from Wolverhampton/Birmingham, or east of Leixester, or anywhere from Kings Cross, Euston, or Liverpool Street.
Total 7.5 hour train journey to get from Telford to Hertfordshire.... 
(And they reckon it might snow next week - I'm working from home, then)!

In work we take calls for the environment agency as well as passports and all that shit (in fact every govt line barring tax credits comes to us). We had the network manager for Wales on last night, wanting to know if he could send his trains out this morning at all cos of flooding. Our systems kept crashing as soon as they seen the welsh postcode.....we found a way around it, but we nearly shut wales down :D

That way when the Americans develop a supersonic plane ( they used to say they destroyed the Earth and gave babies cancer and stuff, and swore they would never build, one yet, Boeing and MC both announced SST programs within months of the SpeedBird being killed off...it aint just MS who refuse to compete), and act like they invented it, you lot ( and not us) will be able to rub their noses in it :D

The Americans ? They make the Tupolev 144 fly with the Russians !!! But the Tu-144 is not as beautiful as the Concorde. I know the British like planes (my second passion are planes) and I am sure that one day a British Concorde will be able to fly again with a French one.
