What's Your Weather Like

Trains completeley shafted, and it happened to be the day I returned home from Telford today...

Telford --> Wolverhampton (first train cancelled, second one slow) Wolverhampton --> London (cancelled, no trains) Wolverhampton --> Birmingham New Street (eventually!) Birmingham New Street --> Leicester (eventually, but was hoping to end up in Cambridge!) Leicester --> Luton (eventually – luckily I didn’t go all the way to London, as Kings Cross line was knackered!) Luton --> Welwyn Garden City (by taxi – paid for by rail company!)

Nothing going in any kind of long-distance from Wolverhampton/Birmingham, or east of Leixester, or anywhere from Kings Cross, Euston, or Liverpool Street.

Total 7.5 hour train journey to get from Telford to Hertfordshire....

(And they reckon it might snow next week - I'm working from home, then)!

In work we take calls for the environment agency as well as passports and all that shit (in fact every govt line barring tax credits comes to us). We had the network manager for Wales on last night, wanting to know if he could send his trains out this morning at all cos of flooding. Our systems kept crashing as soon as they seen the welsh postcode.....we found a way around it, but we nearly shut wales down :D

Mind the difference between a pilot working for Aer Lingus or British Airways in comparaison with Ryan Air or Easy Jet...

Lower pay I am sure but not pathetic, or they'd fuck off to BA or Aer lingus and work. Air France pay well too, and their groundstaff are my heroes for keeping a Concorde air worthy for no pay ( they are paid to keep it in "taxiable" condition, but log twice as many hours unpaid as they are paid for, to keep the lady alive)

That way when the Americans develop a supersonic plane ( they used to say they destroyed the Earth and gave babies cancer and stuff, and swore they would never build, one yet, Boeing and MC both announced SST programs within months of the SpeedBird being killed off...it aint just MS who refuse to compete), and act like they invented it, you lot ( and not us) will be able to rub their noses in it :D

The Americans ? They make the Tupolev 144 fly with the Russians !!! But the Tu-144 is not as beautiful as the Concorde. I know the British like planes (my second passion are planes) and I am sure that one day a British Concorde will be able to fly again with a French one.
