What is it with Bjork,the second festival she's been named as headline this week. Dont get it myself.

The Sugarcubes actually did a gig recently in Iceland, didn't they?
Saw Bjork a couple of times when she first went solo over 10+ years ago and there was a lot of hype surrounding her.
Doesn't have quite the appeal now though. Has she done anything of note recently?
Last thing i can remember thinking was decent was Big Time Sensuality-off the Debut album! See the Jesus & Mary Chain are back too-but they're not from Manchester!
Put on a pair of headphones & listen to "Medulla": stunning/brilliant/REAL music with no concern with commercialism/popularity. The woman has the voice of an angel! I normally dislike music sung in a language I don't/can't understand: but even the tracks sung in Icelandic are beautiful/moving.

I suppose beauty's in the eye (ear) of the beholder, & I've always felt talking about music is like explaining the colour red to a blind man, or discussing shagging with the pope. (Cant get into Sigur Ros at all myself, a noise in the negative term: unlike "The Noise" of JD).

Heard it on the radio today - interview - all those listed above are playing, but the 'headliner' hasnt been confirmed - it's not U2 or the Stones - so who is it????
It was suggested - Bon Jovi? Radiohead? Oasis? Perrrrleeease............

Winner gets £40 - apparently it's the 'biggest and best band this country has ever seen'..........I think that may put the Arctic Monkeys out of the frame, don't you?

i saw on a website and it said the chili's offered to play for free and eavis wouldn't have them
Bon Jovi eh? I know a young lady from here who had to go to endure a Bon Jovi gig in payment for her friend accompanying her to Man V Cancer last year.

It was the chili's. Eavis confirmed it himself. They were rejected because all the top slots are full.

Incidentally, Justin timberlake approached Eavis to play. Bt was turned down because... all the top slots were full.

I saw a review of a gig they did in Iceland recently,aye.Never was a big fan of em or Bjork.If i wanted to listen to incomprehensible warbling i used to listen to Liz.

And it was soooooooooo worth it! 
I did NOT know that any band could make one song last for 2 hrs and 35 mins; it was impressive. Plus, Coventry FC have excellent bar facilities........it was not all in vain.
However........said friend, cannot call any favours in this time!

Eavis is doing it for all the wrong reasons nowdays,the fact he's got the flavour of the month headlining says it all.
There are loads of bands 'worthy' of the top slot who probably weren't even asked.
Ok so the Monkeys debut was the fastest selling one since Definitely Maybe-but there are two ads on TV now say 'the best guitar album since Definitely Maybe (the view & razorlight) so that means nothing really.

Personally, with Glasto (last time I went was 2004), I avoided most of the headliners (bar Orbital and James Brown - not together, unfortunately!), and try to check out the bands I've never heard of - much more satisfying! :)

If The Stone Roses do reform for a gig, then it's likely it'll start at Versus Cancer (or at least Mani will join Ian Brown for a couple of Roses tracks), but yeah, it probably will be U2...

I saw at Glasto when she first went solo- Nearly got crushed to death by the crowd... I imagine the gathering will be a bit sparsely this time around...
