On here cos it may be of broader interest.
I say it's high time they did. Fans have sacrificed alot to help their clubs compete in the transfer market in the last ten years,in the knowledge they are helping the club financially..
That is no longer the case with the massive new tv deal.. Will we see ticket prices slashed,even halved right across the board or not?

My season ticket went from about £240 in 1995 to £620 approx this season. seems to go up by about £40 every year.
they should drop prices though.
Everton advertise their tickets thru the local Echo with big ads. But that's Everton. the people's club 
don't sell out, so tickets are easily available.
It might be better to introduce a salary cap on player's wages, but i can't see that happening either.

I doubt it. Although Clubs need to realise that they're losing fans rapidly. I know lots of ex-season ticket holders who would now rather watch a game on a dodgy TV channel in the comfort of their local with a pint, and spend half as much as if they went to the match.
Many clubs now do do offers for certain games though which is good, but I really can't see any club dropping their admission fees enough to tempt armchair fans.
I think the Arab Channel should take over the coverage.
I don't go to many away games. but every single liverpool game, home and away is covered by the Arab station in my local pub now.

Average cost of going the match per person is close to a one'r,probably more for Chelski. The clubs wont drop the gate price-everyone knows its about making money now-the football comes behind that.
Liverpool fans can be sure to feel the grip tighten once the clubs sold. Its nearly a fiver for a pasty or pie at Old Trafford since Glazer took over.
The shirts,flags and posters etc in the gift shops keep rising in price too. At the end of the day,the board of directors/owners dont give a toss if there are 68,000 REAL fans at the match or 68,000 people who are there cos they can afford it,who just think its a one upmanship on others by being a 'season ticket holder'.
I remember years ago it was me,our kid & our dad every home game at Utd. How many working class families could afford that nowdays?
They surely must. They can no longer justify it. We all traditionally form our affinity with our club as kids. Now,how can kids from working class backgrounds get to the games to form their affinity,on paper round money?
Maybe the clubs don't care enough,but they must know this. Less than 30% of Boro's revenue is gate money these days,set to get less with the new deal.Other clubs must be at a similar figure. The result will be no fans in 30 years. Blackburn are to be applauded on their ticket pricing policy,at least trying to stop the rot. I think it is the biggest issue facing football today.

£2,822,000 is how much Man Utd take on the gates at a home game (i've just worked it out off a stub for a few weeks ago). Thats based on a full sell out-it always is-at £41.50 a ticket.
Add to that,all the 'extras' you get stung for. Why would they drop the prices? If you,me and so'n'so dont pay it someone else will. They know this so they're not arsed.
Cant say i've been to any other ground not on match day,but if you go Old Trafford be it on a tuesday morning or a friday teatime its chocka with tourists buying stuff an going on tours.

This is anoter major factor in crowd drop-offs admittedly.
I do this for many home games with the other part-timers aswell now,and have a better laugh most of the time.
But I tend to stop out all day,and splodge more cash than I would of done going to the game. 
I never regret it though,as getting hammered in the pub is aways a good day out

that's exactly what i tend to do. we throw in a fiver each for a walter for the ale, until it runs out. then its another fiver. but then of course, i get stung by the "extras" on offer. 
I paid about £2.60 for a pint of shite carlsberg at a game this season at half time. had a few swigs and dropped it. never again.

The biggest con is the shirt thing,lets swap one (home or away) every season. Didn't Liverpool change it twice a few years ago cos of a sponsor?

But that's the point Steve. New Stadiums,more seats.. yes. But the vast majority of stadiums DON'T sellout their seats anymore.The decline is rapid.
Now the clubs have a real opportunity,with no excuses to address the situation..It will be interesting to see which way this is going to go.
I actually do think we will see a major price drop on tickets,from the MAJORITY of clubs..It makes good business sense to the club in the longterm aswell as far as I can tell..
Clubs must have worked this out themselves,and I don't see why they would'nt go down this route..It will be interesting to see what impact this latest influx of dosh has.
Ticket prices might go down a bit for home fans at LEague and FA cup games but away prices, and league and Euro games will stay the same, if not increase.
We can all see taht attendances are dwindling across the country: the only two teams that it hasnt really happened to are Liverpool and Man Utd, who consistently sell out most of their games.
No offence, but who wants to go to Wigan on a cold grey Tuesday night to watch Reading, when they can watch it home or go the pub???
The working class is (has) being priced out the game, and it's only gonna get worse. Those who are really dedicated and can just afford it can have a season ticket and go to most the away games. After that people will either just go home or away, or just the cup games. Or, watch it on telly and then take someone elses cup fin al ticket
