It's being reported here on local radio that Tom Hicks, owner of the NHL's Dallas Stars and MLB's Texas Rangers, has bought 1/2 of the Liverpool football club and a Canadian partner has purchased the other half.

Serious?

I thought George Gilette, the owner of the Montreal Canadiens (and who is from Colorado) was the only bidder left for FC Liverpool.

If that's any concern, we had the same feeling when a US owner bought our hockey club a few years ago... I mean, it's the most historical team of the league, and seeing it go away to an American was difficult, but who could blame the local guys, there was no salary cap back then, so it wasn't a good deal.

But George Gilette prooved to be a good owner... and Tom Hicks did a lot of good things with Dallas, though he signed some baseball contract that would make Micheal Schumacher jealous... so he has a LOT of money.

Not a bad duo... they know how to run things.

Though I feel it's a bad thing for us, because his attention will be divided.

So what's the current feeling amongst Man U fans about the Glazers? Gone a bit quiet on the 'boycott Old Trafford' front or am I sorely mistaken?!

fact is. we tried to play on saturday. Blues had everyone behind the ball and did nothing to attempt to win the game. when alan stubbs gets voted man of the match, you know its been a terrible game.

Not me mate. It's History. All the Red fans in our office who went slated the players for having an off day. First half was even. You would expect the home side to press in the second half. We sat back. Liverpool had three forwards on the pitch. They didn't perform. Will you be happy with a 0-0 at Barca?

This is truly the largest sport in the world, the most important sport in the world, and this is the most important club in the most important sport in the world.

Question on LFC website.

Can we bring the title here under your ownership?

George Gillett: I really hope so. Rick has told me of a Shankly saying that 'first is first and second is nowhere' and that sounds good to us.

and me :)

As a Liverpool fan I hope the Gilette/Hicks takeover is good news and not 'asset stripping'. To be fair something like this was inevitable for LFC as there was no way the Moores family were going to raise the multi-millions needed to build the new stadium and more specifically create the regeneration of Anfield the area needs. More importantly it enables LFC to compete with Man Utd and Chelsea in the transfer market - although spending money doesn't always guarantee success, and will hopefully give the reds a firm financial footing rather than the current debt ridden situation that it and most of the rest of the Premiership are in at the moment. Cheers!:thumb:

Good lines Kershaw. Committment to wipe debt, build and finance the Stadium. Seating 60, 000 Timely fashion set to begin w/ in the next two months.

Did Dubai Int'l Capital miscalculate G.Gillett. Due diligence in deed. Just last weeks' Gillett meeting persuading T.Hicks at the NFL to step to the plate. History and pride, $skills it'll work. Still have to secure the 90percent shares through KopFL. Entrepreneurial$ :thumb: and straight thinking Sport business. Mention of Future youth devel. Think an excellent mix.
