Who the fuck actually listens to this crap anymore? I was forced at gunpoint today to listen to NOT ONE but all TWO discs of their new album. Holy shit, what a pile of poo. This band has been milking the same warmed-over soft rock sound for every album in the last 10 years. Every song they've put out since 1994 sounds exactly the same--and people keep buying it! Can't they all get back on heroin and O.D. themselves out of the music scene?

Agreed. I love the Bloodsugarsexmagic album from 92, but that's it. Everything else has been stringing the same sound and killing their one good album. Guess people are sold into guys wearing only one strategic sock?![]()
I just can't fucking stand them truth be told.
Everyone seems to like them as well which deeply disturbs me.
It's a mass conspiracy, like Sky television.
For such a long career, Red Hot Chili Peppers really are not that good of songwriters to be honest... their second guitarist really has been a key to their popularity, and they have just used that formula from the first Rick Rubin record. The songs from their pre-mainstream are kinda fun but forgettable, and their record with Navarro horrible. Kiedis and Flea just have a schtick that they repeat over and over. I don't mind their pop hits but I don't have any desire to listen to them. Why a band at end of their career and at the nadir of their creativity released a double album is just pure ego.
I liked One hot minute, back when I was 12, and some of Bloodsugarsexmajik, but ever since Californication (or whatever the title was), I just find them to be really boring.
Not much of a fan of them at all, about the only songs of theirs I will listen to is True Men Don't Kill Coyotes, the cover of Higher Ground (not even close to being as good as the original, but I like the energy of this one), or Zephyr Song, which I found myself humming along with on the radio. After that, they pretty much all sound the same to me, which is why I change the channel when they come on the radio frequently (hello KNRK!!!)
Also, the cover of Stadium Arcadium is a joke of a joke right? No one would put out a cover that awful on purpose now, would they? ![]()
Stadium Arcadium is the biggest load of ballicks ever released by a band on a major label. It's like a Yes album: bloated, pretentious and repetitive. And with a shit cover.
Having said that, everything before that (with the exception of One Hot Minute) is brilliant.![]()
Recall a few summers back every man , woman and their dog were dead keen to tell all and sundry that they were off to see them in Hyde Park or somewhere. Whoopee doo!!!
Can't stand em
I loved the album "By The Way". The altest album stinks though.
A real petry dish of creativity is the new (2004-present) John Frusciante solo albums. His stuff is out there, and back.

The RHCP are ace!

I mean mint! ![]()
I thought RHCP peak was bloodsugarsexmagic, but CALIFORNICATION has some moments of pure brilliance, as has the BYTHEWAY album (or whatever the album containing that single is called).
STADIUMARCADIUM is pretty OK, but nowhere near as good as the two above... still overall they are excellent; I don't think anyone else does music quite like 'em!

I saw them at the V Festival in 2003 and was very disappointed...MOR soft rock..even Coldplay were better!
I heard they may be the other headliner for Glastonbury..if I get tix, I'll def be at the Other Stage while they're on
I was thinking the same thing pope. they have a song called snow (hey oh). how clever. yeah right. shitty...

Why is it clever? Is it like, about cocaine or something? But how is that 'clever', even in a sarcastic way?
I've always sort of been vaguely aware of the RHCP, always _slightly_ liked them but could never imagine how they could be anybody's _favourite_ band, bit like the Charletans in that regard. But I actually like that track 'snow'. Trust me to like them a bit more just as everyone decides they are now officially cack. The cover art of that lp really is quite, quite appaulling though, I agree.
I can only listen to the Peppers on albums or whatever because listening to Anthony Kedis sing live is a joke. The guy will be off key and miss the pitch on every single note. They aren't difficult songs to sing either, they're basic rock melodies.
He makes Barney sound like Enya. (Though Kedis looks more like Enya)
Terrible band. Like U2,GreenDay or the FooFighters. It's like they're so big that they will keep expanding their fanbase, no matter what kind of shit they put out. Uugh.
