Pet Shop Boys - Shopping

'There's a Big Ben in the city' instead of There's a big bang in the city

Depeche Mode - Walking in my shoes

'But I think your postman stopped to rush' instead of But I think your pulse would start to rush

I always get lyrics wrong.

For years I thought it was 'THOUGHTS' from above instead of bolts in Temptation.

My sister used to crack up laughing every time I sang something as I always got them wrong. Mind you I'm not the best singer either!

I tend to make it up as I go along. I'm currently loving a song on the new Hed Kandi but there's a lyric in it that I just can't get my head round, I've played it over and over.

I know what you mean on this song, but I thought it was:

"Please sign here" - as if he were signing a contract to her

My version - and you can dance, perspiration

Dress you up

Should be - gonna dress you up in my love

My version - gonna dress you up in nylon

My problem is... that I better remember the meaning of the lyrics than the lyrics themselves... And most of the time, when I try to sing along, I do not use the words within the lyrics but synonyms...

I did it too until the day when my little voice (you know, the one which says your THOUGHTS loudly in your mind) told me something like : "Come on Jiphy, pay attention ! It begins with a B not a TH". From that day, THOUGHTS became BOTH...

I have a friend who is, erm... more French than me. He cannot utter two words of English, the perfect stereotype of a Frenchman... So, he used to beg me to translate the lyrics of the songs he was fond of. And most of the time, he said to me : "well the music is good, but the lyrics are crap. I feel happy not to understand English, it could spoil my pleasure".

On one side we could jealous because you understand all the lyrics at once, on the other, we have the chance to swith off the lyrics mode to concentrate on the music only and picture ourselves nicer stories...

Temptation: "Bombs" from above hurt the people down below.

From the Go-Go's (yes I'm showing my age) "I love Cecile" instead of "Our Lips our sealed"

State of the Nation: My brother said that he was dead, I saw his face and "shit my pant"

Blondie Heart Of Glass, thought 'lost in the blueish light' was 'lost to the Jewish life'. Well, it was the best interpretation I could come up with. Clearly a nice Jewish girl has fallen for a gentile...

Only found out recently that the correct words to Pink Floyds wish you were here are :-

And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

and not:-

And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a negro in a cage?
