Anyone else see this on the news the other night?

That guy is an absolute f*#king idiot and I wish I could say that he doesn't represent the majority of Americans, but he probably stands for at least half now. He's probably been storing up that bile since WW2 and was just pleased as all shit that somebody asked him about the situation. It's terrible that a British soldier was killed by an American soldier and there's been no apology forthcoming......
It says something that we threw most Republicans out of Congress and elected people who are more in favor of getting out of Iraq. Not that I think the Democrats will make any difference, but.....at least Monkey Boy won't have such a free run any more.
That Fry & Laurie clip is one of my faves! I also like the "America" song where Stephen Fry knocks Hugh "Springsteen" Laurie off his piano stool at the end.

Never in this world..Half? What was he saying "The Bridish sucking their thumbs, like in WW2"
By your calculations, that means half of all Americans need a fucking good hiding.
Have you got your sums right? ![]()
at least half...remember I live in Austin, which isn't like the rest of Texas at all, so I'm surrounded by hippies most of the time. When I go home to east Texas to visit my family, I get a dose of rednecks like that guy in the news report. I know why the rest of the world sees Americans as bullying redneck assholes, and I completely understand why. I'm spoiled living here in Austin because most people here are against the war and tend to see themselves as part of the world instead of all of it....
There's just so many things wrong with this story. The pilots joy/glee when they think it's "only" an Iraqi gook/goon (or whatever insulting, degrading term they use to excuse murdering another human being) they have killed. Their "sorrow" at finding out it was in fact a British soldier: encapsulated by the words "we're going to jail", their selfless grief at killing a comrade just shines out! Then there's both Govts attempts to bury this tape (along with the truth). Have any of the WMD's that this war was supposed to be about turned up? Have they fuck! "War on terror"; Saddam was in power for 25 years, and in that time didn't manage to kill anywhere near the amount of people the allies have in the last few years. If I was unfortunate enough to be living in Iraq I think I'd be feeling pretty fucking terrorised right now.
(For the benefit of the many who have a reading/comprehension disability:~ Saddam was an asshole, so are Muslim extremists. But two wrongs don't make a right:- Bush/Blair & their allies are also assholes, as are Christian extremists of their ilk/stamp. "Praise the lord & pass the ammunition", and we'll all end up dead! How the fuck do you win "hearts & minds" with bombs and bullets? Somebody once said "Love is the cure for every evil").
Well, nobody ever accused vast segments of the population of "flyover country" of being overeducated, have they?
Apparently the fuckwit doesn't even know that the U.K. *IS* in Iraq. Shocking, when you think about it-- the American pilot the fuckwit is defending** is accused in the friendly fire death of a British soldier, and the fuckwit doesn't even have a clue that the U.K. is in Iraq. ![]()
** Not an opinion about the pilot, just about the fuckwit American on the news...
He hopes people weren't offended by his remarks?? Why wouldn't they be? People like him are part of the reason why Americans are thought of so badly by the rest of the world. He is the classic example off the "Ugly American".

First of all, "most" Republicans were not thrown out of Congress. Did they lose their majority? Yes. Did the Dems kick enough tail to run wild in Congress? Not so much. But as you say, "Monkey Boy" won't have free reign anymore. So, can I surmise that you are eagerly waiting the nomination of Satan Witch? Or how about Ambulance Chaser Blow Dry Boy? Or will it be Not Black Enough For The Congressional Black Caucus First Term Senator Lightweight Boy?
As for the man in the interview, we don't know the question that was asked of him or the manner in which it was delivered. However, suffice it to say, Blue on Blue casualties are always a tragedy. I pray for the repose of the soul of that British soilder and for the comfort of his family.

Even you must realise you're clutching at straws trying to blame 'the way the question was asked'? The guy came across as what he was: a deeply arrogant, xenophobic, misinformed, thick as pigshit shameful excuse of an American. At least have the good grace to just admit that.
He kept on banging on about 'England' in his apology as well? I suppose all the Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish soldiers who perished in World War Two were just having a laugh dying horribly on the field of battle? Incidentally, I hope the journalist reminded him that the US lost Vietnam.

Well said mate!
His so called apology is an insult to the Scots, Welsh and N.Irish soldiers who fought the Nazi's.

I'll vote for whomever I deem appropriate to vote for. It's nobody's bidness who I vote for, in any case. I don't even discuss that with my husband.
About the guy in the video, did you see the same video I saw? The guy is an ASSHOLE.

The guy in the video sure seemed like a jackass. But again, we have no idea what question he was asked to illict such a response. It seems odd that the guy would go on such an over the top rant from a simple, innocuous question. BTW, how is it that the reporter found this guy? Certainly it wasn't by chance.
Tex wrote: But again, we have no idea what question he was asked to illict such a response.
Attempting to shift blame onto the journalist is bollocks and you know it. From the interview Anderson started off relatively reasonably (we need to fight terrorism etc) but then went into quite a savage vitriol against an entire nation. Also, his apology was pitiful.

Of course it wasn't by chance. The ITN team went to the hometown of the friendly-fire pilot and quite normally requested a reaction from those friends and family close to him. As far as I can see they acted in the same way any other news team would've.
There is no mystery as to how they 'found him'.
The same thumb-sucking brits who bested Rommel and knocked out the majority of SS Panzer divisions using infantry and flimsy spring-launched grenades, yes?
These are the unfortunate opinions of one man. He reperesents only himself. It doesn't stike me as good journalism to make them public. All a bit TT or ACA (tabloid TV). The interview was supposed to have been about the pilot.

You don't know and I don't know what question was asked of the guy. That is my point. And, why did they choose this guy who so obviously had a stick up his arse??? It just semed all to convenient that they would find a guy who was barley remorseful about the Blue on Blue tragedy and would go on to slag all of Great Britain to boot.
As for the guy's rant about the actions of Great Britain in WWII, that is one man's opinion. Most people I know who know their history respect and admire Churchill, Monty and all the Tommy's that did their job and did it well.
Is there good natured ribbing on both sides? Of course. The Brits thought the Yanks were, "Over paid, over sexed and over here." There is the well documented rivalry between Patton and Monty. Just know that most Americans have warm and fuzzy feelings for our cousins in uniform. Past and present. (Except of course between the years 1776 and 1815 :) )
Opinions on WWII? You jest? You cannot have an opinion on something you have no understanding of, as he demonstrates is the case with he and WWII.

Jest?? Now, there is no reason to bring my jest into the conversation. I have been working out and no longer require the use of a "bro".....
