Since i started counting, precisely eight people who are either a client or a work colleague who i dont consider a friend has referred to me as "mate" or "geezah"

Why do people do this? I throw out the occasional "cheers pal" but usually to someone who I actually know and/or like. I have a name and people should bloody well use it dammit.
