Movies That Helped You Discover Songs

Just for the heck of it, what are some movies that you've seen which exposed you to songs or artists (but mostly songs) that you wouldn't have discovered otherwise?

My most obvious one is "Rushmore", which had some great Sixties-era rock tunes in it ("Making Time" by the Creation, "Here Comes My baby" by Cat Stevens). But the song that I'm really fond of from that movie wasn't on the soundtrack, and I had to get it off iTunes:

"I am Waiting", by the Rolling Stones

Great, great mid-Sixties era Stones (probably at their height from around '65 to '71, wouldn't you say?)

"Don't fear the reaper" by New Zealand band The Mutton Birds - from the film "The Frighteners". I hadn't heard any previous versions before this.

Steven Kings "It". The opening scene is set to the strains of "Don't fear the reaper" by The Blue Oyster Cult.

The song hit me straight away and I rushed out the day after to buy it.

Four Brothers had loads of old soul records that i'd never heard, cracking CD.

SHALLOW HAL made me discover IVY's "I Think Of You".Thought it was Gillian at first.

STATIC,an old 80's cult film featuring THE THE's "This Is The Day".Loved it instantly,went out and bought SOUL MINING

Oh and JACKIE BROWN introduced me to BOBBY WOMACK's "Across 110th Street". Wot a classic!

Lock Stock had some blinders on it James Brown and that bird I can't remember.

I also discovered songs from Rushmore, Tabs. But the ultimate movie that did it for me was City of Industry. That's how I got into Lush, Dirty Vegas, and Massive Attack.

film,serendipity - nick drake, northern sky film,this years love - stereophonics, just looking film,elephant man - barber, for strings (classical music,although i think it was also in platoon?).

'Harrold & Maude' led me to discover Cat Stevens.

Singles - Smashing Pumpkins and Soundgarden Pulp Fiction & Resevior Dogs - A bunch of 70's music I never would have known about Swingers - Got me into liking jazz and Big Band music Godzilla - Green day's "Insomniac", as I really hated GD at that time (and still do)

Sure there is more, but that is what I can remember off the top of my head.

Oh definitely the South Park movie: I always knew Satan wasn't into bands like Slayer, but rather into lame-ass lounge singers.

Also, from the Blame Canada song, I finally realized that Canada wasn't even a real country anyway.
