Question is though, if they're gonna use the name (presumably they are?) then why didn't they do this years ago? Were these two not talking either?

The kids must need new gear,it's a big decision and all that.. The Take That analogy was a tongue-in-cheek one,ofcourse.
I don't know what they hope to achieve without Weller.Can they even keep the name? 
I think it's a great move if they could get Weller on board for a tour though 
Damn shame. Weller, IMHO, is shit as a solo artist... Maybe some former glory could have been recovered with a Weller fronted THE JAM.
It's only a matter of time until he does a pan-pipes album...
oh & one of them used to be in a tribute band to the jam - how sad is that - being in your own tribute band!
They're havin a laugh, right?? That to me would be about as viable and clever as Queen without Freddie Mercury - oops, they have already gone and done that haven't they?

Why are so many bands reforming these days?
Aren't there 70 different versions of the Temptations that have toured the country and put out records since the Sixties?
It's a bit odd, reforming a band without the main songwriter/singer/frontman/one guy that everyone knows from the band, especially when he's still alive and well.
