Some good singles (Today, Tonight Tonight, Eye) but was never inspired to pick up an album.

The untitled song on the best of is amazing.

I used to really be a big fan back around siemese dream and mellon collie. but then they released Adore and i just went off em utter shite, that machina album was a slight improvement but they'd had there day by '96 i'd say, they'll never be as good or as relevent these days.

whats the point in reforming with only 2 original members won't it be another incarnation of Zwan??

well all we know is that corgan and jimmy chamberlin are CONFIRMED as to be taking part

no one really knows the other 2. i would very much doubt d'arcy joining up with them again, and as far as bass goes melissa auf der maur said she will defo do it if corgan asked her...

Auf der Maur said in a separate interview, "As long as Billy has Jimmy, he can make the essential Pumpkins record, I'm sure." When asked of her involvement, she said she was not participating in any reunion plans, but was quoted as saying, "my services are always there to play my favorite songs. If D'arcy is not available, I'm always happy to be second in line."

Not really a fan.Bought an album of theirs years ago(can't remember which) and remember thinking it was a waste of a tenner..But I will say they have done one song which I've played to death.1979! Brilliant.

Have heard and liked some of thier stuff. a friend's wife has all the albums so I may just ask her if I can pinch'em for a little while for further investigation of course the Sumner/Corgan duet on Turn My Way is brilliant

I was obsessed with them in the '90s but that kind of died down when I was in college and started listening to more synthpop. I have all their albums. I liked Adore and Machina I, but Machina II was probably their strongest thing put out since Mellon Collie. That should've beeb put in wide release, not just downloadable over the internet, which, back in 2000, meant you had to download every single song through dial-up. Of course, at the time, a friend of a friend downloaded the damn thing and burned it on to two CDs, which I then copied onto cassette tapes and distributed.

But, I'm wondering, when is the new album going to come out and when are they going to start some live shows?

Used to be my second favorite band (right behind NO of course). I have every single, remix and unreleased song before Adore. Unfortunately, Flood let Corigan believe his voice was great, and mixed it too loud for all the songs Mellon Collie and beyond. It was so much better when his voice was lost in the music.

Plus I like the spotinatity of Chamberlain's drum work, so the use of a drum machine really took the band in a direction I really didn't care for.

SP is very much like NO, in that the lead singer's voice isn't that great; is no lyrical genius; and I like it that way!

Would be looking forward to the next album, if I didn't think Corigan didn't have an inflated opinion of his lyrical and singing ability. Give me Gish or Siamese Dream any day..........

i can see why you say that, and i'll agree the recorded version is better than live, but i stil really like the live version

SP is way better in the studio. Though I have an unplugged version when he was live on a local radio station, that is tops. Haven't heard the live version your talking about, is there a live album out now?

Top band, my second fav american group behind Talking Heads. Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness is one of my all time fav albums.

When SP appeared on TV, Corgan's vocals were alright, but live, often, they could be pretty whacked. But it varies. The Guitar stuff was always there live (and I agree that he is a much better guitar player than singer, although I do think he is a decent lyricist) but the vocals go up and down depending on the night. There have been some stuff that is totally unlistenable (like the extra live footage on the DVD of Vieuphoria) but other stuff that is pretty good, like a lot of the performances on Vieuphoria.

I haven't watched the VHS tape in a while and mine's probably in bad shape because it's about 10 years old. But, although I didn't buy the DVD, the extra footage was downloadable off some website about three years ago when it came out. However, because I saw the extra footage, I didn't buy the DVD because it was crap. It must've been taken from the worst performance from the Siamese Dream tour. Corgan screamed everything and messed up the lyrics. Aside from the instrumentation, you couldn't tell which songs were which. It was pretty abrasive to the ears.

Billy Corgan was on Brian Wilson's biography on television in 1998. He testified to the beauty of Brian's music. That was pretty cool.

I only have two fave songs by SP. I mean, they were just superb back in their heyday, but these two, just something about them...

and

'Thirty-Three' ['33']

I used to be a big fan of them, and their studio albums are really great (esp. Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie) but I've always thought they sucked live. And "1979" is of course an ace song.
