Well, it can't have any more general weirdness than the original did all those years ago. Some lesser known and more obscure artists cover all of the 36 songs, on two discs, in varying styles (erm, The Call Up performed on a theremin?........okay). The "bigger" names include Wreckless Eric, Jon & Sally from The Mekons, The Smithereens, Camper Van Beethoven, Amy Rigby, and Steve Wynn from the Dream Syndicate.
Maybe not everyone's cuppa tea (I've only ever listened to the entirety of the original whilst under "medication"), and the cover project'll probably have the same signal to noise ratio, but I'll still probably wind up buying the damn thing, but profits are going to a couple of charities.
tracks I like best from the first one are The Sound Of The Sinners and the One More Time/One More Dub ones.
