What a surprise, I got today in the mail my copy of the deluxe edition of Arcade Fire's new album Neon Bible...

I didn't listen to it yet, but it got flicker books like Blue Monday 88...

I ordered directly on the label's website, so I got an extra poster and paid a lot less, sometimes I wish Factory would still be around in the web age.

Will review the album after a few listens...

Cheers!

Saw them on SNL this past weekend, very impressed. :thumb:

Might have to check that out if it comes to a Wal-Mart or Best Buy near me

I actually got turned on to Arcade Fire by some of the teens and 20 somethings I worked with at Tower. I asked 2 or 3 of them one day "Ok I am not trying to get hip, but I'd like some new stuff to listen to-you got any ideas?"

One was Cursive (not bad....) Beta band (meh) I fell in love with "Funeral" by Arcade Fire. They sounded like nothing around. I will definitely pick up the cd

errr....it's great! don't know if it's as good as the first album, but it's up there. they seem to be going a bit GOTHIC at times on the new album though. not that i'll complain.

they have a full cd review of it over at NME.com It sounds awesome. more accesible than previous efforts and well worth a listen.

that single 'Intervention' is the best new song I've heard in months. best on the album. the redux version of No Kids Go is very good also. and My Body is a Cage is nicely dark.

So far, it's good... but like a good album should be, nothing stands out of the album so far.

Obviously I already knew "No Cars Go" from their former EP, so that's a familiar one.

Obviously it will be in the "grower" category... there's no shit song, but I don't think anything will be a hit neither, just a good album.

But that's after 1 time.. gimme a break :p

Ok, I'm with Churchy on that one, Intervention is probably the hit of the album, if they drop the organ intro for radio ;)

Woah, the tickets for both shows in Montreal sold out in 20 minutes (!)

I managed to get 1 for saturday (floor) and one for sunday (seats).. both show being general admission, so no reserved seats.

It's a shitty venue, but I wasn't expecting them to sell it so fast.... let's say that a 30$ ticket (12 quid) is rare these days...!

Ok, I had a few listens, and it's a great album. The standout tracks are the ones they performed at Saturday Night Live last week, Keep The Car Running and Intervention, and my 3rd favorite would be No Cars Go's rendition on this album.

But Intervention is my favorite.

Candidate for a mash-up, Ocean of Noise and Say A Prayer (Duran Duran), try that, I'm telling you ;)

I could have lived without the french line in Black Mirror though, but that's part of what Arcade Fire is I guess.

The title track, despite being the simpliest track of the album, is also quite interesting.

This one will be in the car (if it's not stolen again) for a while.

On the other side, I wonder if the guy who stole my car enjoys Community 2

There are a lot of seeds of their 2007 shows on Dime at the moment. The Manchester Apollo show from this Thursday is up already!

Neon Bible retails for about $12 Canadian here which is six quid! The deluxe limited edition blah blah costs $10 more and gets you a 'booklet', no extra tracks at all ffs! :skeptic:

Listened to it a few times-liked it...No Cars Go, AntiChrist Television Blues I like a bunch.....

For some reason Neon Bible reminded me in weird way of "Automatic For The People" by REM. Both bands had a HUGE breakthrough and their next cds were anticipated. Arcade Fire seems to have gone more introspective. REM crafted a meditation on loss. Both really require repeated listens to show their charms. Those kinda records age very well.

Just happy in my own unique way that I listened to a very solid Arcade fire cd and it led me back to a classic I had not listened to in a good six months...
