Yet again, i find it amazing that the majority of Manchester seems to have covered itself plastic stick on shamrocks for the national day of a foreign country. I often wonder what would happen if I was to ewalk round the streets of shithole known as "Dublin" in my England football shirt, but i daresay I wouldnt live to tell the tale.

Why then, do I have to be inflicted with this nonsenical practice every year? For instance, today was National Day in Hungary, as much, if not more an important part of our European Allies, than Ireland is. Yet how did anyone NOT Hungarian celebrate this? They didnt probably. But when it comes to Paddsy day. Everyone will drink Guinness, say it tastes better in Dublin even though they cant tell the difference and it costs twice as much.

Monday is "National Day" for Aruba. Will anyone be celebrating? Of course not.

23rd April is St Georges Day? Will there be a big parade around the streets of Cork then? Somehow I think not.

It's because us Irish are like rats.

We get everywhere.

Suprised you hadn't figured that out ages ago, ya daft twat.

Over here, we too celebrate St. Paddy's day. It's pretty much an excuse for us non-Irish-Americans to eat Irish potatoes and get pissed-faced drunk.

I dont need an excuse to get piss faced drunk.

I understand it of yanks, they have no history of their own and have to steal ours. But why do the English want to be Irish so badly? I don't get it, especially since "no dogs, no blacks, no f*king irish" is something that's well within living memory, on the on side, and from the other, didn't some Irish people make a career of slaughtering innocents in England. Baffled.

I was in Leeds for paddy's day in 99, and was just stunned at the greenery and faux-bogness.

I suppose the easiest explanation is thet Engerland really IS the 51st state and it's inmates just have to act like those American spastics, who despite being black, and called abudindaboogadu or blonde haired and called Kawalski....always belive granny came from Galway.

PS, Liam, wear your England shirt in Dublin these days and everyone will be laughing too hard to give you grief. May I remind you that Dublin bookies paid out on England's last Rugby humiliation...BEFORE KICKOFF

Hey! Don't forget those of us who are part-Irish, like me!

...okay, so I'm only 20% Irish by blood, but still.

Well, it's a better excuse than that of ditzy college girls go to bars with t-shirts that say, "Kiss me, I'm Irish."

I'm not Irish American at all. My mother's Ukranian American and my father has some mix of English and German. I suppose for every Ukranian holiday on the calendar, I could comsume a bottle of vodka.

Other than parades and bar nights, what else do we do on St. Patty's day?

There won't even be one in England because it would offend the Muslims.

Fcuk's sake Liam.

I don't give a shit about St Patrick's either, but if people want to dress up like Leprechauns and drink Guinness, so fucking what?

As for "Dublin" being a shithole, well, Pot Kettle Black. How many tourists are gonna be visiting Stockport this weekend to soak up some culture? Exactly.

Stockport is a complete shithole. I have never denied that. In fact, I'm pretty sure that i've said it more than a few times.

Liam trying to be contraversial......whatever next.

That was a poor attempt, you could easily get away with an England top in Dublin, it's mostly Liverpool, Man Utd & Newcastle tops there anyway

Yer no longer a plain and simple cunt, you've now been promoted to daft cunt of the site. Sorry JAK :viking:

Maybe so many Englaish celebrate it 'cos St Patrick was born in England. (Possibly born in Scotland or Rome, but definatly not Ireland)

Personnaly I couldn't give a toss about the day, dispite being 50% Irish

Everyone celebrates Paddy's day because it's a laugh.

No one actually gives a fuck about the day itself, it's just a fun way of promoting Guinness and bad singing for people who don't do it all the time.

And what the fuck is wrong with that?

Nothing, that's what.

But don't let that stop you being a moaning twat.

But why are we, in England, celebrating another nations nati onal holiday, when we barely celebrate our own?

Thats just wrong.

Ok point taken there. Do you celebrate Christmas though Liam? Dunno if you are big on Jesus or not.Not arsed either. But millions celebrate Christmas without the slightest bit of thought for Jesus,no? Sometimes you just go with it

They don't celebrate Paddys day in Ballymena, the DUP would never allow it. A few (not sheep) climb Slemish Mountain and thats about it. Saturday is footer day so getting pissed happens anyway.
