Do the supermarkets sell veggie bacon? Some of them sell frozen veggie Canadian bacon here. I used to put in on a toasted English muffin, with swiss cheese and hot sauce.

Yanks do almost nothing right but breakfasts is one area where they really come into their own. French toast with whipped cream, syrup and fresh strawberries. Had that every day for a week in Vegas in Jan. You'll no find that down Whitherspoons

Do the supermarkets sell veggie bacon? Some of them sell frozen veggie Canadian bacon here. I used to put in on a toasted English muffin, with swiss cheese and hot sauce.
Tesco sells veggie bacon . . . it's like cardboard. Awful! Their veggie sausage is ok, think that's what they use in the £1.99 Wetherspoons brekkie. I used to have one every sunday until I fell out with the staff. I am a vegetarian totally because of principals, I love animals. When I see people eating bacon I feel like mugging them for their sarnies!

They do sell it but it is own brand frozen stuff. I tried frying it but it was nothing like real bacon sadly! Mind you, I'm not the best cook in the world. Did a food based degree and when we all had to make a foreign dish and comment on why it originated where it did, I did porridge from scotland. Sadly it clumped together around the spoon like a drum stick. I think I was mentally scarred by that - that's why I virtually live on take aways now!

Oh, I think you must be talking about regular bacon, not Canadian bacon. I've had tempeh bacon before and it just tasted like over-cooked tempeh and I didn't like it, either. But the fake Canadian bacon is good.

1] [Step]Mom's special 'Go get em, Sunny!' breakfast whenever I wake up on the wrong side of the morning [or have the worst night in the world prior, like when I get dumped by a guy and cry myself to sleep]: homemade cinnamon bread, toasted with butter. Scrambled eggs. One or two strips of bacon [as I don't like bacon much]. And a nice tall glass of chocolate milk!
2] Cinnamon roll-flavored oatmeal with a cup of hot cocoa. Best when it's cold as hell in the fookin' drive-thru and you're bored to death. Always gave me a good reason to keep my eyes fixed on that nice sunrise during these blasted winter mornings.
3] Chocolate-chip cookies/brownies/cookie dough, Wheat Thin Crisp chips, and a tall glass of chocolate milk: the breakfast of madcap drive-thru punks. Like me!

Eggs Francisco English muffin piled high with scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, avocado and queso. for just a shade under 8 bucks...or about four of those pound things that the English use...with a side of fried potatoes...it's just this side of paradise in the morning...
I'm with Jeff on this one. For me, nothing beats bacon, eggs, sausage grits, biscuits and cream gravy with fresh-squeezed orange juice. A good old-fashioned Southern breakfast....
No, I don't eat this very often. My usual weekday breakfast is a bowl of cereal and some coffee. Not very entertaining perhaps, but I'm usually pressed for time.
I've never had a Southern breakfast before, but gravy on biscuits? Is it the same kind of gravy you put on turkey at Thanksgiving?
No Jess, it is not the same gravy that goes on turkey...it's white...well...close to white...I'm not entirely convinced that giblet gravy would go well with biscuits...

Lovely, that's what I'm fixing for breakfast right now, though with blueberries instead of strawberries, along with some cranberry juice and lemon ginger tea.
