I find that frame of mind pointless. It's basically no fun. I can respect it though, especially if there's a heavy reasoning behind it.
From what I've experienced, the people that are straight edge push it too much on people. Or they make a point to put their nose up to me while I do whichever activity they don't agree with. They become some type of institution, or like church, and push their belief's when they aren't wanted.
People who need the security of a label ('Straight Edge, 'Christian', 'Satanist'...) are usually shallow characterless blank pieces of paper.
