But it basically turned into a Heaven 17 gig anyways with Glenn Gregory showing up and them doing "Let Me Go" and "Temptation". And they also attempted "Party Fears Two" from the Associates (it was a Billy Mackenzie benefit night) with Gregory doing quite a dour vocal (he admitted it was a hard song to copy) without MacKenzie's extreme vocal range.

Able support from Paul Haig and Claudia Brucken (who did, amongst others, Duel, Club Country and Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill). Have never seen Ms Brucken live before although I know she's got a lot of fans here - fcuk me, what a stage presence and what a voice. Very impressive.

Me and JG and Iain & Bunny there. As well as John 'Cerysmatic'. Fcuking big turn out from the 3rd Battalion though! Me and JG lucky to get out of Shepherd's Bush in one piece! ;)

Seriously don't really know the first thing about ms Brucken, but you have to admire a performance like that. Proper singer, unlike most of the shit I usually watch. Couldn't help but be captivated.

Actually, I was always under the impression that Claudia was the stage godess, but recently I got an excellent Propaganda video (from ChronoVisor), and in fact, Suzanna Freitag, was even more impressive.

What other Heaven 17 songs did they do? Was a massive fan when I was very young, a member of "H17Plan" no less! Found it odd that they never played live at the height of their fame but decided to hit the road in the mid 90's, when no cnut was interested anymore, in support of.....ERASURE!

Claudia is currently working with Paul Humphries out of OMD under the name Onetwo.

I saw them at Soho Review before Christmas where they were previewing tracks from their album, Instead, which finally came out a few weeks ago.

As well as the new stuff, they played OMD, Propaganda and Act songs.

She's been one of my favourite vocalists since I first heard Dr Mabuse when I was 14 and I never thought I'd ever get to see her live (particularly in such an intimate venue!) - so, I was nearly in tears when they played Duel!

As well as Onetwo, she's recently appeared on Andrew Poppy's album where you'll find their version of Running Up That Hill.

Keep an eye out for Onetwo live dates later this year...

Longest set of the night was Electric Soft Parade, who did maybe 8 songs. They were shit.

I'm a big fan of Electric soft Parade. Thought it was a very odd choice to put on that bill though.
