First album (minus the single) has already grown old to me. I'm intreged because Marr is supposedly on it......but I heard the new single, not impressed. I can't even hear any Marr guitar through the bounciness of the music. Seems like something to play toannoy your friend when they have a hangover.

Going to buy this tomorrow and put it on my beautiful new MP3 player.

I'm going to get all of the Sly Stone albums, which have been re-issued, as well.

Got it. Overall I prefer 'Good news'.

You can hear the influence of Marr, but the whole thing sounds a bit too much like bad Franz Ferdinand to me. Some bursts of guitar genius, which will probably make me listen again. But then some awful things like barking dog backing vocals. At times it sounds like They Might be Giants, which is not on. Slappy acoustic guitar and at one point a trumpet solo that's clearly only there so they can get a sexy trumpet player on stage at gigs. I just can see the fans with their lighters aloft, trying to look up her skirt.

Anyone expecting some classic Marr jangle (like, err, me) will be dissapointed though.

Some of the vocals sound like Lloyd Cole, which is alright in my book.

I think I heard a swear word though. What's that all about? There's no sticker to warn about swearing.

Good songs Missed the Boat and Little Motel, which has lovely guitars.

Overall, there's too many styles of music pushed together.

Perhaps I'm missing the point.

I'm listening for a second time and I'm really enjoying it.

Missed the Boat is a lovely track though.

That's why I don't work for NME, I suppose.

I was pondering on whether to buy this album. Thanks for the insights, guys!
