Chorley Pubwatch in Lancashire has increased the length of time it bans troublemakers - because prison terms are now too short to deter yobs headed by the infamous Rocket Mick,
Five-year bans will now be slapped on violent offenders. Lesser offences will result in three-year or one-year bans. Previously only one-year bans were imposed with a futher penalty of having to listen to an entire Cure album.
The move follows calls from the Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, for judges to consider alternatives to prison to reduce the burden on over-crowded jails.
Chorley Pubwatch vice-chairman Shug Sluddden said: "I always understood that if someone struck a licensee or staff member it would lead to a custodial sentence. "49 year olds who are coming into pubs now know they can do what they want and they will just have to listen to Cure albums, but they now wear ear plugs , so this does'nt deter them"
Sludden, Marston's Pub Company lessee of the Fox & Grapes, said 60 people are currently on Chorley Pubwatch's banned list, which means they cannot enter the 22 member pubs.
However the Yob leader Rocket Mick insisted he was innocent stating " It's a case of mistaken identity, it's not be gov, but the Pinball Wizard, I spend my time dusting my record collecton and walking aroung the one highlight of Chorley, the astley hall museum and art gallery.
Follwing the interview Rocket Mick treated me to Smoked Bacon and Black pudding at the only A La Carte restaurant in Chorley The Bistro on Market Street.
When we walked in the waiter said you're usual table Sir, my Deepest respect, and my virgin daughter is all yours, please just leave my restaurant in one piece.
MMMM Rocket Mick, King of the Yobs or "DUST" Rocket Mick ? You decide
:D
