AH SMART CARS!! They are hilarious and so cute. Great things come in small packages. Yet, I would hate to see what's left from an accident.

I'm sure they've been around since the late 60's, but I'm not going to be arsed to find out.

Not much has changed, only shapes. Shapes of cars, clothes, hoardings. Apart from that it's just two pics of miserable sods going to miserable places, some in metal boxes that move by means of hydrocarbon breakdown, surrounded by messages from cunts trying to sell them things.

Fradders will be chalking that up to my pathological misanthropy :thumb:

Smart car Vs Chevvy

Cool wee cars, FAR too pricey, and really not for US roads.

You're right about that! I'll take my HUGE gas-guzzling 68 Pontiac anyday over that litle death trap.

Hey, I may get only 8 miles to the gallon (premium), but I'm able to help give you concerts like the "Save the World" Gore concert coming up!:thumb:

Well, run both cars round Donegal and things would be different, you'd be dental records material in under 5 miles in the USS Nimitz.

Must find some old/new pics of Bangor, our whole coastline's been remodeled.

Granted it might take out a corner or two, but the great thing about old cars is that they designed them with the belief that more STEEL protected you. Those little crumple-zone pepsi cans would merely scratch my bumper.:evil4:

As a point of order BTW.

1949-2006 is FIFTY SEVEN years, not 45.

And they say educational standards have slipped.

There was something in the local paper recently about a bloke who died in a car crash becuase he was too tall for his SMART car - if he had been a few inches shorter they think he would have survived... SO not for lard arses or giants... So, being a svelte midget, they're probably the ideal car for me...

Smart vehicles use a very small front crumple zone. The main structure of the car is a stiff structure called a Tridion, which is designed to activate the crumple zones (if any) of a colliding vehicle. This design creates a very strong safety cell around the passengers. However, it also subjects them to higher forces during an accident than in a conventional car.

supposedly quite safe in reality.

To be honest, Steve, I thought pretty much the exact same thing, and I actually thought that was Clive's point.

But, really, it's London, so who gives a fuck?

Don't talk to me about Smart (sic) cars. One pulled out in front of me once forcing me to slam on and some dopey old woman rammed into the back of my Ford Orion. It was my first car and even though it was a crappy rust bucket it was still my first car and I was sad when the insurance company wrote the old bugger off. Naturally I've had a bit of a hatred of Smart's ever since:thumbdown: Cheers!

Well yes - if the first picture was black and white then I'm sure the 'oldness' would be enhanced, but as it's colour then it tends to highlight the similarities in both pictures.

Though apparently, the only thing of any note is the stupid little Swiss car in the corner.

But as Rocket points out - at least spelling has improved.
