Its a peer 2 peer program yes? So whats this remote ban bollocks i keep getting? I've only just started using it after finding BearShare and LimeWire both going downhill.

I can download some stuff, but some users seem keen to fuck me off. Am i doing something wrong?

Steve, i use it,are your settings set to share your music "my music"file?

If users cant browse your files, they'll ban you for not sharing.

Are you on slsk now?whats your username?

i ban people who do not share. if i see someone downloading from me and they do not have an organized shared folder with quality mp3's they get a ban.

then again i am so paranoid i only let people browse who are in my friends list. i also run through a proxy.

But SoulSeek funds Al-Qaeda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should listen to the RIAA (that's recording industry ASS of AMERICA, it's just Blair who lets em run riot here)

The only good thing about Soulseek is that you can find the odd (re)mix that you won't find anywhere else. But Gary, for gigs you should not use Soulseek! Torrents really are quite easy to understand  even I do! And another thing that annoys me about Soulseek is that I can't see myself, I don't even know what I'm called on there

3 Steps

  1. just download azuerus
  2. download and open the torrent
  3. keep it open after your download is finished until your ratio is 1 or higher.

Nowt to understand about it :P

Still stick with Soulseek for muzak. Found someone last night with the entire back catalogue of the Pop Group and Pigbag, all downloading at 100+kb/s. Luvverly.

Only use torrents for movies as a rule...

oinks pink palace has tons of music and they have really strict rules about what gets uploaded so it's always good quality

Great advise, I'll take a look...

"How to join OiNK's Pink Palace

OiNK's Pink Palace is a private community. Currently there is no open registration. You will need to get invited to join.

If you don't know any OiNK member who could invite you, you're probably out of luck for an account."

Shit...:banghead:

I've heard a lot of people slagging "Limewire" but I've found a lot of decent stuff on it. (1 proviso, make sure you've a decent anti virus running).

Including, and I know NOOLers will love this, a cover of LWTUA, by The Cure!

Also found something by the Crucial Three, and I didn't think they'd ever recorded anything.

"Ares" has also been recomended to me but I've still to try it. Like a lot of people I find torrents a pain in the ass, need a degree in computer science to download a bloody song!

Soulseek is CERTAINLY better for music than torrents, you'll find MUCH more obscure shit on it.

Torrents have replaced my TV with the exception of F1 and Dr Who.

Every time I ever try to use a torrent, that exact same message turns up - makes it sound like a bloody crap private club!

Soulseek every time for me! :smoking:

I agree with that to a certain extent, but torrents are the only good way to get live gigs. and I'm sticking with that

I used to have an oink account. I didn't understand torrents until I was put on ratio watch. During the last two days of my account, I wasn't able to upload enough to improve my ratio. If anyone has any invites for a responsible potential member, please PM me.

*bump*

Some A-hole just banned me the other day... He just downloaded 2 EPs from me. Then when I downloaded an album from him, he banned me.

I tried to PM him 3 times on the reason of banning, and after downloading some stuff from me, and when it's my turn, he banned me!

I forgot his username. Anyway, I also banned him. What an A-hole!

Indeed*!*

I use Dimeadozen for gigs. Mainly to complete my New Order collection (as far as that's possible). I download new music from MySpace as there's a hell of alot of good stuff there by unsigned bands. If a 'signed' artist releases something, if I like it enough, I buy it. I never use the P2P stuff - you think you're downloading a cool song, you open it and not only is it not an audio file, it's some Mexican bird noshing off a donkey :(

So you would ban me soley based on my folder of 56 different versions (live, remix, parodies) of Sisqo's "Thong Song" that all start with "01_Th0nGs0nG_featOJSimpson_LoLz0rZ.mp3"?
