Had to go with British there,
although the Huskers almost flung me to Hardcore (but ive never heard of the other two
)

Hardcore: Black Flag, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys.
For the UK: Discharge, The Exploited, Chaos UK, Disorder and GBH.

A little bit of everything I suppose, not mad about anything in particular, but a quick look at the iPod reveals stuff by Rancid, the Ruts, the Slits, Dead Kennedys and Ramones...

Good, I'm not alone now. ![]()
I think British punk is top notch too, though.

I'm shocked!
Always thought you were a hardcore electro freak who sat in his room obsessing over BPM's.

Amen to that, brother! ![]()
For me, the Clash was what did me in for Punk. Best punk band ever, in my opinion.
In fact, Britpunk rules, period! END OF! ![]()

So you have a soft spot for Sham 69?

Nope! They had a certain racist following too as I recall?
Liked The Sex Pistols too but not at the time it must be said, I was too busy with Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, John Foxx, Gary Numan et al
Super Ally wrote:

They did by they were resoudingly anti racist.
And Numan was a Tory!![]()
I'm a bit dumfounded by these categories. Those are real ska bands? I'll take the specials.
Social D. , and misfits are rockabilly?
I'll take husker du,misfits, television, bad brains, dead kennedys , blondie, and bad religion. I don't need these categories...

Something he regrets saying now apparently. Tears For Fears were too I think?, but then again, they were shite!

Good call on the TFF front.
Although I'm sure Numan only votes Tory to keep his (little amounts of)cash safe!![]()
I knew I wouldn't make everyone happy, as punk isn't easily catagorized, as most bands bleed into one or more catagories. However.....
JZee wrote: Those are real ska bands? I'll take the specials.
Not sure what you consider "real" ska, but they are considered ska.
Social D. , and misfits are rockabilly?
Although I knew I'd get shit for putting them there, its for good reason. Mike Ness did 2 cds solo rockabilly, after hearing this you'll hear the rockabilly in social D. Also for the Misfits, listen to Project 1950 and you'll hear rockabilly in the rest of their albums.
Big Black wrote: Indeed. Everyone knows Dead Kennedys and Black Flag were hardcore punk.
Maybe, but hardcore is so diverse, and the early cali movement was big that I thought I'd break them into it.![]()
Where is Oi!-category. That's what i like. Cockney Rejects, 4-Skins, Business, Angelic Upstarts etc. My alltime favourite top 3 would be Ramones Cockney Rejects Misfits.
Sorry Edel, can't bring myself to vote for just one
love 'em all for a variety of reasons, though I've never been a fan of the Misfits, always thought Glenn Danzig took himself waaaaay to seriously, always preferred the Tesco Vee/Meatmen approach to things myself, or even the Minutemen, Replacments and Meat Puppets.
'n hey.....Corvallis wasn't such a total drag in the entertainment area....KBVR and the show Radio Harcorvallis did a wonderful service playing all of that stuff when it mattered (three best shows from my memory: the Kennedy's at the Benton County Fairgrounds, Scratch Acid at the Oddfellows Hall, and X played at Wes's (it's now a coffee shop on Third Street) Good times. ![]()
What is punk anyway. Isn't it just an attitude. I like some of the bands from all grouping here.

c'mon...if you were 5'3" and made yourself up like a pre-pubescent Frankenstein, you would take yourself serious like...wouldn't you???
