So what is everyone's opinion? Don't know much about the guy, but from what I've seen, Ilike.....which probably means everyone else hates this guy

You seem to have forgotten the other half of the equation: New Labour = Lying Cunt (At least true Tories are honest fucking liars).

The man is a demagogue and an opportunist.

Everytime I see him, I think of the song leaders of men.

He is a lawyer. His office is specialized in expulsion. No joke - but it only concerns bad payers...

If you are to travel in Paris, you may take notice of that : Police squads wait at tube stations. They control everyone whose face is not European enough (or a bit too tanned). If they do not have papers, they are sent back to their country. To make you a clear idea, it has not been seen here since nazi's occupation and the Algerian war... And a month ago, Mr. Sarkozy was still in charge of the French police (which begins seriously to be disgusted to be hated by the 3/4 of the population)... His best friends are : Weapon traders who own 3/4 of the media. Medef, which is the CEOs trade union which endlessly complain about the fact that the workers are paid too much... Compare a French salary to a British, German or American one and you will have a good laugh. His program is worthy to people earning more than €5,000 a month, but here, more than 50% of the people earn, on an average basis, €1,394 a month. I wish all these people good luck. In my opinion it will turn to "great expectaions" to "the grape of wrath".

This man lies as he breathes... He must be waiting Blair's leaving to take his place in Europe and in trans-Atlantic relations... And do not let go him too far, he is able to find WOMD in Iraq in 2007 to please everyone...

Jiphy, it sounded as if he was ALOT more friendly towards the good US of A than Chirac ever was. Which I would guess would mean that they would play nicer in the UN? Never liked Chirac.

Heard he was trying to change the workweek of 35 hours...seems that would increase wages, right?

Also heard he has a hard stance on illegal immigration. Anymore its hard to tell what that means. I could see how they could do a complete profiling that is close to "1984", however there are alot of people that exagerate when anyone tries to take a stance on illegal immigration. So its hard to tell without seeing it first-hand.

but I'm not French politics expert. I know more than the average American....but that doesn't say much.

On the bright side, his birthday is only one day off from mine.

The system is more vicious than that. If it was so simple, I would have voted for him... well, with a gun pointed at me even if Royal was not my favorite. One of my great disappointment is : I do not vote for but against.

That is a good thing - I mean that you remember that France exists when she does not use her veto at the Security Coucil of the UN.

Well to conclude on this matter, the best thing we have to do, in order to stay coherent with our values, is to erase Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité everywhere it is engraved and stop calling ourselves the Country of Human Rights.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I used to think that my country were the "good guys" who only fought for freedom and democracy, but I don't think that any more from the past few years. :(

EDIT: no offense to those who do fight for our country, they're great. I'm only upset with the policy makers, not the soldiers just doing their jobs (except the ones who abused human rights at Abu Graib prison, and stuff like that).
