What do you think? Highly unlikely this is gonna have a happy ending. Has the law in Portugal actually hampered the effort to find her?
I think if i was in the parents shoes, i'd prefer her to turn up drowned and washed up further up the coast and it be a really tragic accident, however its more likely that she'll just never turn up and they'll never know.
If she had been taken by a paedophile, chances are her body would have been found by now.

It's fucking tragic, but if they'd been a chavvy family (read: working class) rather than bloody doctors there'd be an outcry in the right-wing press about parental neglect, breakdown of family values etc etc etc.

Criticise the Portuguese police as much as you want, but the country itself has no record of abducting children. Lovely bunch of people in general over there, apart from Jose Mourinho.
The most worrying thing is that it is more than likely she was abducted by a British paedo, allowed to move abroad, which says a few things about our culture over here, and the way these people are allowed to develop their 'interest'.

I read today that the family are paying the ultimate price and should have our sympathy. I think the child is paying the ultimate price for their stupidity!
If it was a single parent from a poor area there would be a child protection outcry! That little girl deserved better and I pray for her safe return.

As you rightly pointed out though, and a point which myself and the good Doctor also highlighted, if the girls parents had been Wayne and Waynetta Slob ,unemployed, and on a package holiday to Torremolinos, we'd be witnessing a different media slant on the story.
Imagine if Wayne and Waynetta had been in a pub, the same distance away as the girl in question's parents were, with mum and dad checking up on them at the same time intervals. We'd be looking at exactly the same set of circumstances. But do you think we'd witnessing the same kind of reporting in the media? I doubt it.

Agreed; I thought it was the height of irresponsibility for the parents to leave the children. You wouldn't do that in the UK, never mind a foreign country. Just goes to show that a lot of parents here don't give a monkey's about their kids. I hope Maddy turns up safe but, in all honesty, I don't think they'll see her again. She's either been sold or illegally adopted by now.
